Nys compliant bullseye pistols
What are folks using for higher end bullseye 22’s? Nys laws being what they are severely limits us on Olympic style pistols unfortunately. The Walther SSP would have been an ideal choice but it’s been discontinued. Anyone know if a Walther or Pardini can be loaded from the top? If the magazine is fixed in place it would be compliant. Currently I use a Hämmerli Xesse , mod 41 PC, Ruger mkiv comp. And have a S&w victory PC. All have been good but I can’t help myself from wanting a top of the line match pistol.

Xesse will do the job.
Maybe a Nelson/Advantage Arms/Marvel conversion on match .45 frame.

Yes sir. The Xesse is a fine one for sure. The Marvel conversion does intrigue me. Thank you!

I've been running a Marvel conversion on a Springfield frame for 3 years now with no problems. Had a trigger job done on it. Use plastic Kimber magazines and can feed it CCI or Aquilla SV. I figure this pistol will take me at least into Master class. Right now it still shoots better than I do. Very dependable.

Good to hear! Thank you kindly. Do you use or will your Marvel accept a red dot?

Re: Nys compliant bullseye pistols
A Marvel upper will easily accept a dot. Just needs the scope rib or combo rib mounted to the barrel. I purchased one with the heavy irons rib and another with a simple scope rib—if I were to start over, I would have bought one with the combo rib.
They will certainly not prevent you from shooting Master scores.

If you are looking for a Walther SSP check with Oberle Enterprises a friend told me he had two available
that was about a month ago. According to Oberle Walther is going to continue to support the SSP.
I bought one from Champions Choice a couple of years ago and it's one my NY license.

Thank you!! That’s great information. How do you like the SSP?

Re: Nys compliant bullseye pistols
I like the SSP more for sustained fire than slow fire. Mostly because of the grip angle being more slanted compared to other 22s I own. I shoot my model 41 now.
I'm finding that bullseye is like when I was motorcycle racing. We all spent a lot of money and time working on and upgrading our bikes but we all knew, it's not the bike it's the rider. At least at club level racing.

Re: Nys compliant bullseye pistols
I own the SSP and the Feinwerkbau AW93. They both shoot better than I ever will but I use the AW93 more than the SSP these days. I also own a Ruger MkIV and a Hammerli Xesse and to this day my highest score in Bullseye has been with the Xesse.
I was always told that the SSP had a lot of kick and laughed at people saying that until I shot the AW93, now I completely understand what they were talking about. It just has a completely different feel to the recoil.

I'd also be keeping an eye out for an Izh-35m, or a Unique DES-69 or 96. Or a Hammerli 208, but that goes without saying.
