Curious if there is an ideal position to mount a red dot on a semiauto pistol. Lots of slots in most mounts, so is it better to mount as far forward as possible? Furthest back? Or more centered? Locate it for best balance? Does its position on the mount affect recoil?

You might try them out for target acquisition. If it's centered over the grip, only the dot will move with rotation and the sight will stay in one place and slightly rotate. If it's forward or back, both the dot and the sight will move. Probably a preference thing.
