Increased carbon build up
Hi,
After shooting 250-300 rounds I've noticed a significant amount of carbon build up in my 1911. I have never had a build up like this before, even after 300 rounds. It's happened twice so far
• Use same oil, Mil-comm TW25b oil and grease
• I apply oil a little moist to most parts and grease to rail slots, barrel, and bushing
• Only change in ammo is I'm using older BE and it's been sitting in the hopper for 2 weeks
• I live in dry California and get minimal sunlight, but I can see it may be possible to have more moisture
• I've noticed most of my rounds smoking now after firing—along with sparks during the shot
• I've used this load quite a bit but haven't had it do that until recently
• One big difference is that I now have more upper lug engagement, used to be less than 0.037" and now it's 0.04"
• The build up is right underneath the barrel and to the left side(if forward is the muzzle) of the barrel. It's gotten pretty big that it takes a lot of BoreTech C4 and elbow grease to remove them. I spent 20 minutes scrubbing it down yesterday with wipes and Boretech C4
• I got it shooting just jacketed bullets—4.35gr BE Zero 185JHP 1.202+0.003
If it didn't start building up underneath the barrel on the frame that it would lift it I wouldn't be concerned, but if there's a problem that I can fix to reduce it I'd like to do that.
Recommendations with my load or technique to decrease it?

Hmm.
I guess my question is: what outcome are you looking to achieve? And, is it important to achieve said outcome if all other outcomes are 5X5?

Carbon
Smoking and sparks with "old BE" may be telling you something.

Light load , not enough crimp, check the weigh on your scale??

The good news is if you're seeing the sparks it should be easy to call your shots

lol, I'd like to see that!
UPDATE:
1) On my JHP I used BE powder that wasn't sitting in the hopper for so long and smoking and sparks dissapeared
2) With my lead rounds I increased crimp to 0.463 from .464, slightly snappier but no aggressive carbon build up
