Cylinder & Slide Match Trigger Pull Set
I recently purchased a Springfield Range Officer in 45 caliber. It had probably the best stock trigger pull of my very small collection of 1911's, but this is going to be a dedicated bullseye gun. The out of box pull was 4 1/2 lbs. and pretty crisp.
I decided to purchase from Brownells a Cylinder & Slide match trigger pull set @ $145. I also bought an Ed Brown hammer strut and pin set so I didn't have the separate the original from the hammer.
Installation was a breeze and truly "drop in" with the exception of the mainspring housing of the Springfield.
Their safety mechanism in the housing prevents the use of the stock MSH. I only discovered this as I pre-read the installation instructions. I robbed the MSH out of the R1 until the UPS man can deliver a new Ed Brown arched piece.
The trigger pull dropped to 3 1/2 pounds and clinks like the proverbial stick of glass. I haven't fired it yet because of the endless winter in central Pa. but it passed all safety checks and I think it will improve my scores.
I'll see Tuesday if it helps my timed and rapid fire section of a match. I may reduce the recoil spring weight and drop my load from 4 gr. of Bullseye to see if that helps me recover shot to shot sight picture.
The pursuit of 300 continues...

Re: Cylinder & Slide Match Trigger Pull Set
You can convert the Springfield main spring housing take standard springs by replacing the top mainspring plunger with a stock one and putting in a standard retaining pin.
I've had good luck with Cylinder & Slide trigger sets also and recommend them highly.

FYI, the stock Springfield mainspring housing will work fine if you replace the mainspring cap with a standard cap and add a standard dimension mainspring and mainspring cap pin.

We have good luck with changing out the inards of the Springfield mainspring housing. Like the previous posts say you will need the spring, follower, and the pin to complete the change. The original follower and spring, for use with the lock, are the wrong length. The retainer pin hole is there but there is no pin. FWIW the Springfield Custom shop says for a trigger pull less than 4 pounds you need their tool steel parts.
