Norma TAC 22 on sale
$299.95 shipped except tax if you live in PA. I took a winger despite reading mixed reviews and ordered a case. https://rivertownmunitions.com/product-category/rimfire/22lr/
Another site, not quite as cheap, actually has different lot numbers to choose from. Seeing as I have no basis to pick lot numbers, I went with the cheapest. https://ravenrocksprecision.com/tac-22-40gr-22-long-rifle-ammo-updating/?sku=AM-R-NORM-TAC22-41RS21-5000

Norma TAC has been a consistently good shooting ammo for me.

Two High Standard's, a 41, and a Marvel, and duds and failures to feed and eject with all of them.
Apparently differs from lot to lot.
Now Tac 22 Target, (black box) that's another story. Excellent!

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
This appears to be the newer red box. I'll volunteer to be the lab rat on this one, as far as functionality in a ruger mk ii, HS Victor, SW 41 and an older Marvel.
Good news is that I've gotten four emails including a shipment notice in less than 24 hours. Apparently they can't get rid of this junk fast enough LOL
EDIT: shipping label created, but not tendered to UPS yet...

So, a large heavy box showed up on the porch yesterday. I think I tweaked my back putting it in the garage. Who was responsible for this?

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
Oops… sorry Wes. Lol
Mine showed up Thursday and I have shot three and a half boxes.
Lot number is 70PS21
Ruger MkII
S&W 41 (very early ‘80s my dad’s)
HS Victor (ML serial number)
Original Marvel on a Springfield RO with Eulette trigger and 17# main spring
Every round fed and ejected perfectly. One round in my Marvel didn’t go bang. After waiting the obligatory 30 seconds, I checked to see if there was a round in the chamber (yes). Left it where it was, cocked the hammer and it went bang the second time.
I hadn’t spent any time cleaning these guns, although they weren’t caked up. The Marvel malfunction coukd be the lighter MS or I might need a new recoil spring. Or both. The slide isn’t snapping back into battery super fast and I’ve never replaced the springs. Or a bad round. Less than 200 rounds isn’t a good sample, but so far I’m okay with it. Waaaay better than the current CCI SV.
Swapping guns around, I was a bit schizophrenic and didn’t really settle in, so won’t comment on accuracy. I’ll do a longer test with the Victor.
PS, my favorite aspect so far may be the little thumbnail cut in the box flap that makes it easy to open without tearing on the wings.

A bit less here: https://www.recoilgunworks.com/tac-22-22lr-40gr-lrn/?sku=2425092-5K
I will hold off until Newsom's new 11% CA ammo tax is booted, however. I can afford the extra $30 but will not support the principle.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
Within the last two years I bought an old Anschutz 3 position rifle on this website. A wonderful piece of equipment but chambering CCI SV was not a good idea due to the force involved. The rifle was definitely chambered for Euro spec ammo.
While I have Eley and SK on hand, since I wasn't competing and just wanted to see bad how young ladies on high school shooting teams could beat my scores, when Norma TAC-22 came up on sale I bought five bricks to test, as it was the cheapest Euro ammo I wanted to try. If it stayed in the black on a 50 yard repair center with my new-to-me rifle or my free pistols I was ok.
Below is five shots in the Anschutz 1407 at 50 yards off a sandbag after some practice. Maybe I flinched them all in inwards.
I was happy with this recent red box ammo. When the next sale came up I bought a case.
Also, I have a S&W M41 with a Clark barrel and normally shoot CCI SV. One range trip I took SK Pistol Match, TAC-22 and CCI SV to test at 25 yards. On a B-8C and a little warm up I can hold the ten ring at a Slow Fire pace and then move into 2 shots hold-the-black, 3 shots hold-the-black etc sustained fire training.
The M41 was zero'd for CCI SV. If I remember correctly TAC-22 was a similar sized group shifted about 1 -1.5" left and SK Pistol Match was the same distance grouping to the right of the CCI SV group when shot Slow Fire pace.

I haven’t seen the latest stuff, but I’m pretty sure the TAC 22 I bought a couple of years ago was made by RWS.

The stuff this last year and a half looks like RWS stamp and tallow lube.

Norma is owned by Ruag which is the same company that owns RWS. So it’s very likely it’s made by RWS.

The following information may be of interest. Data was collected using a Garmin XERO C1 PRO and was 20 shots each using a 5 in. Pardini.

2. SK standard Plus - Ave 906.6 fps, Std Dev 17.9 fps, Spread 84.4
3. Wolf Match/Target- Ave 906.9 fps, Std Dev 21.8 fps, Spread 87.1
4. Norma TAC-22- Ave 936.3 fps, Std Dev 14.0 fps, Spread 49.9
Lot 61QS21 40 gr./1083 fps on box.
The SK and Wolf cartridges had the same headstamp.

TAC22 (measured 10 or 12) and they were 0.970/1” except one guy was 0.972”
Older CCI SV dark blue box(4 or 5) and all were up at 0.992”
I fired another 100 rounds of the TAC22 through Marvel conversion at 25 yards with zero malfunctions.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
I bought a case of TAC a few year ago. Won't ever shoot again. Very accurate, but starting with a clean barrel in nelson, marvel and walther, ammo would run great for 50-60 round then start suffering FTFs occasionally, but more frequently until by 100 rounds it was every other shot. Using a bore scope I found HUGE carbon rings in all three barrels. Once removed, ran fine... for 50-60 rounds...

Welp, looks like that sale is over so doesn't matter, but I'd buy it again.
Another three boxes with no problems. Marvel had 100 through it and another 100 today without cleaning. Then 50 rounds through My HS Victor. The Victor shot this stuff very well (for me).
Kind of wished I'd ordered 2 cases. Oh well.

Hey, maybe it won't work in any of my guns. Might just have to dump it at scrap metal price.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
I bought some TAC recently and yesterday shot 100rd without a hitch in my 208s. Also shot some Agula SV and noticed the TAC is a little snappier, but that didn't seem to affect shooting performance.
Unlike Aguila the TAC ammo was noticeably greasy, which may necessitate more frequent cleaning.

Just curious:
Do you still buy gasoline with the excise tax on it?

Yes. Not much choice on gas taxes unless submitting to full govt control and get an EV.
That said, though I can afford the 11% Newsom tax, I won't abide it. I would pay the seller 11% more but not the government. Criminals have many ways to get around these theatrical acts, but it appears to be aimed at punishing the law abiding.

Measured 5 rounds of CCS SV, 25.2 to 25.39 mm
5 rounds of Norma, 24.6 to 24.8 mm
I"ve been using CCS SV as a practice round, but in the past few years been getting failure to feed issues with the Pardini SP.
After seeing this thread, decided to try Norma. Shot 350 rounds with the Pardini and no issues.
