Any truth to the rumor that the Matchguns company has run into financial trouble and that the factory has closed?

They have a new owner now.  Parts are available. They will be making them again.   There is no reason to panic, as hammerli has not been producing the 208 for many years, yet people are still buying them and parts are available.
