32 ACP on a 1911 frame

I just saw a 32 acp on a 1911 frame for sale on Target Talk. Tempted.

I don't think this is a 32acp.  I think it is a .30 Super downloaded to 32acp ballistics.  I built a 32acp conversion unit for the 1911 as an experiment.  The problem is the magazines.  Project failed because I could not get it to feed reliably.  The .30 Super is the same bullet diameter as the 32acp; in fact the case is very close to being a lengthened 32acp case.  But it's loaded to much higher pressures.  Since Night Hawk (?) now offers 1911's in 30 Super, the magazine issue may be gone, at least if you use the longer 30 Super case and load it down.  Just thinking out loud.

The pistol listed is not 30 super or 32 acp. Read through the document. It's a wildcat cartridge that he dubs "32 Super".

Still pretty cool.

I downloaded the presentation on the gun, fairly good documentation of the project. The guy put a ton of work in to making brass for it, let alone all the custom work into the gun. No mention/testing of accuracy which is kind of disappointing.

I   remember that Nelson worked ok on a .32 conversion unit, some time ago.  He spoke of issues encountered , magazines being one.
