.22 short shooting at the 50 yard line?
OK, so I know 22lr is the common round, in BE, but know back in the day 22 short had its place. So that being said, I have a High Standard pistol setup for 22short, and plenty of ammo to keep me. With the problems getting SV 22 around my place, and my stash getting pretty low, I was tossing around spending some time shooting the short. Im a new guy hoping to shoot my first matches this year, and a little worried if Ill have the ammo to train, and shoot. The shorts perform well at shorter ranges for me, but as of now I don't have a 50 yard range to shoot them at. How does the 22 short shoot at the longer ranges? Does the BE rules allow shooting two diferent guns for the 25 and 50 yard lines? [I have two HS pistols, and diferent bbls, and slides to interchange..]Am I being stupid, and should just shoot the SV 22LR till im out and hope I find more by then? Thanks for any advice.

NRA Rules If the barrels have the correct twist rate for the bullets, accuracy should be ok. I have not shot my HS short at 50 yds. What effect wind will have on the short at 50, i do not know.

You have a nice setup for the .22 Short, but forget about the Muzzle Brake. The short is slow enough to not need braking to slow it down.
I never thought that a SV .22 short could even reach 50 yards!!!

thanks for the input guys. Im realy on the ground floor with this bullseye thing. I have not compeated yet, and all my training has been at shorter ranges . At this time ill probably run some of the shorts in the pistol just for pratice, and trigger time. Maybe for a indoor shorter range shoot if i find one. I have a lot of the ammo and might just as well use it till the 22 sv lr is less difacult to find.

When it warms up, try the .22 short in your pistol at 50 yards. I'm betting it will perform just fine. It couldn't possibly be worse than the 50 yard performance of .32s!

The short may malfunction more than a LR. See Rule 10.10 from above link. It would be good to read the current rule book from start to finish, before getting into competition. But then i always read the instructions first .

I think the .22 short pistols really shine at indoor gallery pistol. I'd be very surprised if one grouped in the 9 ring at 50 yards.

I have shot shorts from HS Space guns and short kits. They do not do as good at 50ft or 25yds as does LR. Never tried 50yds.
