Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for this red dot? (Optima 2000)

i can’t seem to find a red dot as small as this one.

This is soooo old it finally gave up the ghost.

Optical Planet also had a small one as well.

The Optima 2000 made for Tasco by the British Company, Firepoint (out of business) was a cheap copy (plastic verses glass optics/lens) of the original Docter Red Dot ($400) made in Germany.  The Burris FastFire  II (now III @ $230-250) also uses the same style mount as the Docter.

Another good choice, Ultradot has just recently upgraded their L/T and added adjustable brightness ($250-270).  I'm sure others have their favorites.  Then there is the Aimpoint Micro (+$500) hands down the best optics.  I own all I have mentioned (except the Optima) and all work well - personally I'd give the edge to the FF III on being the best value.

I have Matchdot IIs on all my bullseye guns except my Model 52 which has the new L/T on it.

Be aware the cheaper versions of this style sight experience considerably more parallax if the dot isn't viewed in the exact center of the lens.  The more expensive ones are nearly parallax free.

thank you for the info
i purchased the Burris FF-III for my 1911
i should have known better than to put a very cheap site on a Gold Cup.
yes the cheap plastic lens clouded over and the dot disapeared.
maybe ill be able to see the dot when shooting from now on.
