FIRST POST, FIRST BULLSEYE GUN
Hello,
I am new here and would like to say hello. I would also like to show you all my first Bullseye gun. I saw it in a shop a few months ago and trying to research it lead me to this forum. Through the info I learned here I was able to make an informed and prolonged haggle with the shop over price versus condition. They finally gave in this weekend and I bought it. Thank you. The serial is in the very low 102000's, so I think that makes it a 1914 manufacture. It has a Bo-Mar rear sight and rib, oversized grips and a trigger shoe. There are no markings other then what it left Colt with. The shop told me they feel it may have been made at the Military Markmanship Unit or Program, but I have no way to verify that. Either way I bought it to fun with and it looks like a lot of fun. Thanks again.

I have a colt 70 series bullseye gun with the exact same style of front strap checkering, mine was built by a old gunsmith named Malcom Forbes of west Virginia, he now makes some the lightest hunting rifles and holds all kinds of awards for his work, I talked to him a few years ago and he built many guns for the military shooters back in the 60s and 70s

Re: FIRST POST, FIRST BULLSEYE GUN
Thats interesting because the shop I got the gun at said it came from Wheeling West Virginia. Thanks for the clue.

Re: FIRST POST, FIRST BULLSEYE GUN
Nice gun!! Another thing is that the old war time 1911's were pretty cheap into the 50's. Might just be a local Gunsmith, or even a owner built gun. I have my dads old Remington Rand 1911 that he shot bullseye with back in the 60's
