Smith and Wesson hammer spring

[size]
I just opened up the package of replacement hammer springs from Brownells, and they are quite a bit heavier than what is currently in the gun. Presumably all K,L,N frames take the same main spring so the fact that I have a model 14-2 shouldn't matter right? I took some dimensions as well as used a calibrated force gauge to confirm that the replacements, supposedly genuine S&W parts, are considerably heavier.
Do you guys know of this? Is there a source of the exact spring I have? I assume that my spring is OEM but no way to know for sure I guess.

Brownells spring is thicker, about as wide, with a heavier rate by my calculations. I bought four which all gave similar results. Package was correctly labelled.
Thanks,

I also bought a main spring from Brownell's  and found the same problem.

I then bought a reduced main spring from Wolff and that really helped. Along with the reduced main spring I bought a package of reduced trigger return springs and ended up using the 13# return spring if my memory is correct. Did this modification on 3 different S&W, 2 K frame and 1 N frame. Some people say that you will have to use Federal primers with a reduced main spring but I have had NO mis-fires while using CCI, Winchester, Remington or Federal with well over 2000 of each make of primers fired. No issues with the trigger not resetting with the reduced return spring in fast double action firing either.

This combo of reduced main spring and trigger return spring along with some minor polishing of the trigger group has really smoothed out both the double action and single action of my 14-3, 66 no dash and a model 28.

Did the same as Virgil on my 14-2. Results in a great trigger and I've had no problems with CCI primers.
