High Standard Victor Problems
My beloved Hamden 4.5 inch Victor is finally showing it's age. I've had it for 35 years and it has a high round count. Lately it's been having all kinds of function problems. I won't bore you with the malfunctions but they all come from the innards of the gun. I have replaced all springs and like any good amateur gunsmith I took it completely apart, examined everything under magnification.
It wasn't that dirty nor could I find anything wrong. It worked well for a few months but all the problems have returned in spades. Most of the problem is I don't know what to look for. If it was a 1911 I would be completely comfortable.
Before I retire it and turn it into an expensive paperweight I would like to know if anyone knows of a Smith that knows his way around these guns and would take on a rebuild.
Returning it to High Standard in Texas is not an option. I've heard too many horror stories.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Roddy Toyota worked on my Victor. Does a great job. I don't know what his turn around time is. I will find his email for you if you like.

If
Oldmaster could you tell me a bit about him before I email? For instance where is he located, does he have an FFL, and what were your experiences? If you don't know that's fine. Just trying to do my due diligence.

Re: High Standard Victor Problems
Jerry,
Roddy is famous in this industry. He builds great guns. For me personally He worked my Gold Cup into a tack driver, made me a 9mm ball gun, tuned a Gold Match ll and rebuilt a 106 that was turned into a Victor. I am sure he could do the job. I am just not sure what his schedule is like. Roddy lives in Oregon and I have no idea if he has an FFL but I suspect he probably does not.

Roddy is an FFL. He has sent and received firearms for me several times. And he does do great work.

Roddy worked over my ball gun and I placed 6th in the Pres 100 that year and the next year was high civilian in the NTI/NTT match. My highest score with it is a 290.
He is the go to Pistolsmith in the Northwest and a very fine gentleman!
Hope this helps,
Wes
