Lee 38 cal 148gr WC mold
I bought the above mold and cast a pile, they came out real nice. Its a six banger, looks more like a BNWC (button nose). This for a Model 52.
Question is: how many grooves should I lube? I have been lubing two, and its been working just fine, but a lot of smoke. I wondering what others that have experience with this type of bullet are doing. I'm thinking lubing one grove would be enough. The groves seem a little shallow.

Probably a minimum of 2 grooves. I know that some sizer lubers will not lube entire bullet. Try'em and check the bore for leading. I don't think you'll have any problems.

OK Thanks! I know it will do three for sure, when I was first adjusting it, three were lubed.

Keno:
Try three but don't do too many until you are sure that it is an improvement.
More lube may equal more smoke.
And many find that lubing only the bottom two groves is more accurate.

I shoot that bullet in a S&W 52 and I get better accuracy out of lubing just the bottom groove.
My S&W 686 likes the bottom two groves best

Considering I can't find HBWCs locally, I may have to add that mold to my collection of molds.
I too, have a 52.
