45acp wadcutter?
Does anybody make a hollow base WC or flat based WC for 45acp target revolvers? There was a earlier thread that described a revolver expert's favorite bullet - a cut down H&G 78 bullet that made the nose shorter to 170gr, and it sounded almost like a flat base WC, but there was no picture (https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t2386-45lc-vs-45acp?highlight=45acp+wadcutterf).
There must be a reason there isn't one on the market...

I have a three cavity Saeco wad cutter mold.
It casts at 230 grains.

Mould is available
Thank you for the info. I see it listed at Midway. What is your experience with this bullet?

Penn Bullets has a 225gn WCBB available.
Not sure you would want the 270gn Thunderhead BB, but it could be used in a revolver.

I have been buying bullets from Bob Palermo at Penn Bullets for years and when it comes to cast bullets, Bob is one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. His prices are very good, as is the quality.Bruce in WV wrote:Thank you for the Penn reference. That looks like what I want. (http://www.pennbullets.com/45/45-caliber.html)

NOE has several molds for .45 wadcutters as well as a 215 gr .44 wadcutter. Their 5 cavity is less than the Saeco mould. Very good quality and service.

Very Cool! I was looking at Missouri Bullet Company, but it looks like Penn is a great alternative and may be a bit better for BE.

RE: 45 LSWC
Another option is the accurate Zero 185gr LSWC hollow point bullet. The hollow point results in the bullet having longer sides, which may be the underlying reason for its accuracy. The only frustrating thing about these bullets is their intermittent availability. I know of no reason why these would do well in an S&W 625. These bullets are also pretty; this description is obvious to anybody who has ever opend a box of 500 Zero HP LSWC's. Dipnet
