Zins-Moody clinic 09/27/14
We're having a Zins-Moody clinic this weekend. From those that have already "been there, done that", any suggestions for making sure I get the most out of it? I know it's a pretty open question, but that happens when you don't even know enough to know what to ask...
Thanks in advance!

If your goal is to truly get better then forget everything you've learned up to this point unless they repeat it.

I went to the class with the thinking that since I am paying big bucks for this class I will shoot exactly the way they tell me to even if it meant doing the exact opposite of what I was previously doing. It paid off. I broke 2600 just a few months later and have been consistently doing so ever since.
Do EVERYTHING they tell you to do.

Could someone tell me how to find out when and where their clinics are going to be held ? I have been to BZ's web site and everything is outdated

Normally people schedule a clinic date with Brian and they generally sell out pretty fast among the local shooters. That's how I set up the clinic he did in our area. Brian doesn't actually set them up. When I set mine up we had a waiting list and people willing to fly in. If you have a range nearby and other interested shooters I would just email Brian and set something up.

Get a seat up front, and record the audio. You won't remember all the good info otherwise.
Bring all guns (semi, revolver, etc.) you want some training on.

Right! If you're consistently shooting 300's with your .22, no need to bring it.

My comment was stated by Mr Moody in reference to the diffenced between european style, slanty grip 25m rapidfire .22s shooters, and American style 1911 grip angle type guns. After his statement, a student asked him what he used for his .22. Mr. Moody dropped his head a little and reluctantly said, "a fifi gun."(aw93)jwax wrote:Right! In regards to the class, bring a lot of .22 ammo, the first and most of second they have you just shoot .22 for fundamentals and less fatigue.
I was also disappointed that I didn't get individual attention/correction, however; they informed me that if you are doing something right, they are going to leave you alone. So I guess that is a good thing.
Listen to everything Andy Moody says, afterall, he was the coach that made the usmc pistol book.
Enjoy evey minute of it.

Bring a slab grip 1911, also a Dot on your .22 at least. Dot on .45 is also okay. Have a set of goals before you go and make them known. You will learn more from Andy than Brian but Brian is good at picking up things that do NOT help your shot. He will teach you to stand still. Much harder than you think.

Sure would like to see a clinic in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

I said the same thing for over a year about northern Indiana, so I just set it up myself. A lot of work in doing so but the benefits far outweighed the initial effort.

In that case they're going to be on me the whole time...I'm still trying to figure out what "something right" looks like. I appreciate all the responses...good info.
Thanks!

All suggestions here were dead-on
I attended the clinic this weekend and it was excellent. Lots to work on. Lots of notes. I didn't get expelled due to poor choice of firearms and sights, but I think I was close! Shot some good targets while trying to put what was taught in to practice. My friend from Dallas got lots of personal attention, I think everyone did, actually. Very happy camper here. Thanks for all the good advice prior to the clinic.
