Colt mainspring housing?

Hello all,

I just ordered a set of Vitarbo ergo grips from Bullseye Gear for my Colt 70 series Govt model. I need a flat mainspring housing to fit in the grips. Have an arched housing now. Is the genuine Colt composite piece ok for my wad gun? As it is completely covered, I don't think I need anything special, but not sure. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Most of the time that is OK.  I like the cheap checkered plastic composite.  You need to check and make sure the hammer strut isn't touching the side somewhere.  Also need to verify the plungers are free to move up & down inside the bore.  But yeah, those cheapies work good for me.  You could also buy them most expensive checkered gold plated and that would likely work as well.

I figured I'd be ok with a Colt part, but didn't realize they would be composite. They don't even list a blued steel flat one in the Colt parts section in Brownells.

This is a plain but very nice housing. Bob Serva at Fusion does good work.
