.22 Conversion Units - Best One?
I am strongly considering changing to a .22 conversion on a dedicated lower.
There are several manufactures. I hear both good and bad about the new Marvels - what is generally considered the best conversion unit today for
accuracy, consistency, longevity etc. ?
Thanks

I've got a Nelson. Groups at 3/4" at 25 yards rested (and I'm not the best bench rest shooter). I also like that it locks back on the last round and it's safe to dry fire. Also, nice people to deal with. Reach out to them and ask questions.

My recommendation would be the Dworak. It's a copy of the Kart and works great. I should have some available the beginning of next month. And going with the dedicated lower is the best possible idea no matter which conversion you choose.

Yep..Todays conversions are nice, but shoot one and then shoot a Kart or Dworak. The difference is readily apparent..

just my opinion, Id go with nelson, the kart and dwoark were great units, they are not in production from kart for very many years and dwoark has a many year backlog it seems he cant fill So parts will be hard to come by, They are known to be very finiky too, ive shot with several guys who use them and have told me this. Marvels are good but why buy the outdated design when the much better upgraded nelson units are from the inventor of the marvel and these run perfect from day one in 99% of shooters reports including mine.

A friend of mine and I farted around with getting a Kart to be not finicky, but KC was able to caress the thing for about 10 minutes and made it perfectly reliable. Great shooting conversion with great reliability.
The plus for the Nelson is you can have one immediately. I've never heard of them being on backorder. Also very reliable.

I sent KC my Marvel Unit 1 and he built me a beautiful dedicated conversion on a Caspian frame. Wicked accurate and reliable!

I think the Kart's have obtained a bad rep over the years, but they were never made to just slap on a frame and go like the newer model conversions are. I have 3 Kart's and they all work perfectly with cheap or expensive ammo.
I also had a B series Marvel and it worked perfectly also, I always recommend them too.

I have shot a Marvel for the last 12 years with only one minor repair.
It still shoots X ring off of bags using good ammo. As far as no slide lock goes
I learned how to count to 5 a long time ago.

I can't make a claim on the best, but I will say that I did a lot of research on them before buying one and settled on a Nighthawk Custom, which is premium copy of a Marvel design with a built in Eliasson sight like a Gold Cup. I put it on a dedicated series 70 Gold Cup frame. Their claim is that it will shoot a 1/2" group at 50 yds. I have not shot it from a Ransom rest yet, but from a bag, it's on the mark. It's a very well made unit that is built with torture in mind. So far, very happy with its quality.

The Nighthawk is made by Nelson.

My first "Nelson" was a Nighthawk. I was very impressed right off the bat with everything except the chamber was cut too deep of a ramp at the rear. It bulged cases into the unsupported area. Bob Marvel had me talk to Larry Nelson who exchanged the Nighthawk barrel for a Nelson barrel. Now the Nighthawk is a perfect Nelson.

I've been exceptionally happy with my Nelson conversion and have my highest scores with it over my other 22s. I do not have any experience with Kart or Dworak so I can't make that comparison.

I can not back this up. But I believe the Nelson has proven to be so good that Bob Marvel has slowed or stopped pushing his Custom Pro II, which is a Nelson with Bob's magic touch in the chamber and whatever else. Bob Marvel is quite busy otherwise as we know.
I have both a Custom Pro II and Nelsons. I can't tell the difference when I shoot them.
