Anyone heard of a bullseye pistolsmith named O.A. Smith from Calif. in the early 70's.

Hello xringdave,

Yep; Ollie Smith....I see him every week, typically, at the range.  He's an accomplished pistolsmith (long retired), a high master and an old-school gentlemen (most importantly).

An old thread, but Ollie's worth a bump.

As spursnguns says, Ollie is indeed a gentleman. He shoots at our range, and is ridiculously good at it. He's generous with advice and encouragement to those who are willing to listen.

He showed me a couple of his old catalogs from his days as a custom gunsmith, very much the early days of the custom 1911. The prices were a bit painful to read; I think I spend more on lunch most days than what custom work was worth at the time.
