Trigger Shoes for 1911's
First topic message reminder :
Where can I find Trigger Shoes?, I have two that were made years ago but I can't remember the Brand Name. I like the feel of the shoe over the bare trigger because the hole in the face of the trigger for the over travel screw causes me discomfort. The two I have are made of steel and I would like to find some like them.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
How did you do at the Asheville match? We had a 2700 informal shoot at my club Sunday due to another club match got book solid by the Marines. So we decided a good local practice match was a good idea. I did well with the AW, the bronze trigger I made for it felt very good and I got the group size down with some gun work so it seems to be working out for me. Fooled with trigger length and found a sweet spot so I can feel the trigger travel smooth about .030 then fire. Went to shoot my 1911 and didn't have any shoes! sold them at the last match so I shot a 2700 with the AW.

I did not make Asheville match. First one I missed in long time.
Using you shoes on all guns. Shot Chattanooga and bham, am. Great short line most of match. Shoe helps me keep constant finger placement.

This is absolutely critical.Magnusbullets wrote:I did not make Asheville match. First one I missed in long time.

I changed my finger position to adapt to the shoes, and I see my scores creeping up, match by match (as long as I don't get bone headed about other elements of my shot process).

im struggling seems like the shoe puts finger in perfect position but in a match its like I cant get any feedback when pressing it. I need a lot more practice with them.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
With the AW trigger adjusted as I like it I can't feel the movement, however I could see it moving! If I increase the movement so I can feel it, it was too long and and hard to get a timely first shot in rapid fire and the other shots were slow, had to jerk a skidder.
Moved the trigger back and can now feel my finger sliding on the bronze. Worst rapid fire shot was a 96. Most were 98's and will get better as I shoot the gun.
Might want to try a shorter trigger Dave.

Frank - I sent you a Private Message a few days ago. I'm relatively new to Bullseye competition and had a few questions about your trigger shoes. Tom

Beautiful Pistol!OldMaster65 wrote:Anyone have a good source for a short solid trigger for a Gold Cup national match? I just received a trigger that said "National Match" so of course it didn't fit. I even asked if it would fit before I ordered it. I want to put one of Frank's shoes on it but first I need to find a shorter trigger. Gold Cup triggers are .100" wider then normal triggers.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
I purchased trigger bows, Aluminum Bronze and special solder to attach the steel bow to Aluminum Bronze plus to add extra strength I put a .047" brass pin thru the bow and trigger.
I'm currently making a trigger for Oldmaster65's Gold Cup. Have the Aluminum Bronze on my 1911, love it! Plus it has the extra wide shoe.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
Frank made three bonze ones for me, 1 for my 1911 wad gun, 1 for my .22 conversion and 1 for my 1911 ball gun. He's a real craftsman, all fit perfectly and give you the sense of the trigger pull being lighter than it actually is and yes, you can have a trigger shoe on a ball gun, just meet the requirement of weighing the trigger with the trigger shoe installed and meet the 4lbs. minimum weight requirement.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered Frank's al-bronze extra wide shoe. He said it should ship on 8/24. I can't wait to try it on my 44-48 oz. pull. I hope it reduces my flyers and tightens up my groups.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
Franks shoes are great. I have 3 of them and 2 more coming. But they are not magic. If you want to get rid of flyers and tighten up your group then I suggest practice. Lots of practice. Or, if you can find a can of group tightner then grab that. They are magic

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
Hi Wingnut, been so busy I haven't even looked at a trigger shoe. Bought some machines and trying to fit them in a building full of machinery so I'm playing musical chairs with machines that weigh as much as 11 tons!
However I did get those needed to make shoes in their new locations and will be back at shoes this weekend then on to my Morini .22. I got a Aimpoint 9000SC that I'm making a new top end for the Morini!
Best place to message me if FSCO@pa.net, I check that every day.

Re: Trigger Shoes for 1911's
Hi Dan; E-mail received and reply sent. Been so busy with other projects I haven't been here for a while. I'm tinkering with scope (Red Dot) extensions, so far I completed them for the longer scopes that have threads to utilize. An inner blue insert seems to work great! I'm not trying to extend the Primary Arms Micro. Objective side is complete.

That’s encouraging since that post is about 7 years old. Did you use his mailto Address he suggested?
