Model 52 recoil spring
I have a project going that requires a different than normal approach. I recently purchased some Penn 115 gr SWCBB 9mm for my Model 952. I want to develop a reduced load for this pistol but there are zero/nada/zip after market recoil springs available. The pistol came with 2 springs neither of which is light enough for my purpose. There are a lot of options for reduced recoil springs for the mode 52 but I don't know if the springs have the same internal dimensions. I do not own a Model 52 but I do own the much more common Model 39. I have compared the dimensions between the 952 and the 39 and they are identical. The options available for the 39 are limited but knowing that it matches the 952 I can now ask if any member of this forum has a 39 and a 52 and can tell me if they match. Short version=do the 39 and 52 recoil springs have the same internal and external dimensions (except for length)?
Thanks, Len

Re: Model 52 recoil spring
Len;
Model 39 recoil spring slides onto my extra M52 guide rod with the same tension.
M39 spring inside diameter is .316" and outside diameter is .400"
M52 spring inside diameter is .320" and outside diameter is .402"
Except for the length, they are the same as they are sitting in front of me as I type.

P.S.
Found my spare M39 guide rod.
M39 and M52 guide rods both measure .290"

Re: Model 52 recoil spring
Thanks Clarence, That is exactly what I needed to know. Midway has a 52 reduced spring set in stock. I guess I better get it coming my way. Looks like my project is back on track.

Re: Model 52 recoil spring
Good luck with your project.
By the way if anyone needs some spare parts for an M39 I have some.
I do not have the pistol anymore.
I need to look around but know I have bushings, guide rod and rear sight.
