2016 CMP Rule Changes
I haven't had a chance to digest it, but here is a link to the newest rules from the CMP. It does include some electronic target stuff.

Re: 2016 CMP Rule Changes
Have they been generous enough to post a simple page designating the changes?
or is this typical lawyer/politician hide it in the fine print.

Re: 2016 CMP Rule Changes
New Pistol Range Officer scripts are added to the Service Rifle and Pistol rulebook so now there are Range Officer scripts in the applicable rulebook for use in conducting all CMP events.
CMP Achievement Award Scores are updated annually, but there were no significant changes in these cut scores except for Service Pistol and 22 Rimfire Pistol scores
The definition of a Service Pistol was expanded to allow the use of a broad spectrum of military-type pistols in CMP EIC and National Trophy Matches. In what proved to be a very popular new pistol program, the 2015 rules established 22 Rimfire Pistol EIC Matches and Distinguished Badges. Eleven competitors earned the new Badge in the program’s inaugural year. The objective of these changes was to increase participation in CMP pistol programs. 2015 increases in Pistol EIC Matches and competitor numbers affirmed that this objective was being reached. As a result, there was no need for further pistol rule changes in 2016.

Says a picatinny rail below the barrel is now allowed,so this would be ok?

Re: 2016 CMP Rule Changes
They're mailing them out soon for the late fall matches. I received my late summer and early fall pins.

Centerfire is a M1911A1 on a round button and the 22 is a Ruger 22 pistol. Pretty plain. Gold, Silver and Bronze colors. They make great ball cap flair.

Too small to take a good picture of with my phone. But up close and personal you can see "China" on the back side.

Re: 2016 CMP Rule Changes
Going back to CMP Eastern Games (5/1/2015), I have received no ".22 Rimfire Pistol" pins in the mail and I should be getting one of each color. I did get one by going to the CMP office at Camp Perry before I left. They had just received the pins and were only giving them for the match fired at Camp Perry.

That's too bad. There are many US manufacturers that provide high-quality goods at competitive prices.

I take it that these are no longer awarded.

Yes, I read them. What a waste of time. Don't plan on protesting a score or a hit if you don't have a backer (which they won't change every 10 rounds) Don't plan on shooting if you don't plan on spending half your time as a verifier (rule 4) And if you do protest a score and lose then you lose 2 points (possibly waived in 2016). I have several comments about the new rules.
1. These new rules are for rifle shooters with very little thought about pistol shooters.
2. There is no chance, zero, nada zip that these rules will make it through the first 2700. IMHO
3. I won't personally be shooting on E-targets...Fact

Re: 2016 CMP Rule Changes
I think it is also interesting that you can only challenge the score or number of hits in "Rapid Fire only". Apparently they are not expecting any problems in timed fire (5.10.5).
Jayhawknavy. They are issuing place awards in 2016. There was enough of an outcry that they put them back into the rules. 2015 is only year they didn't award them. They are also still going to give out the pins.

Re: 2016 CMP Rule Changes
I feel it is very clear that these rules were written only for rifle matches. They need to go back to the drawing board for pistol matches. I've never looked into international pistol rules, but they might need to do that.

It's a sad day if we have to shot with these E target rules....
