CCI Pistol Match
I was playing with a .22 rifle the other day, had not shot it in a while and was trying a few different types of ammo. It is an Anschutz Match rifle with a pretty tight chamber.
One of the 'odd lots' of stuff that I found in the collection was some CCI Pistol Match. I don't know when I bought it, why or how old it is. No idea if they still make it or what it would cost if available.
Something that was immediately apparent was that it is lubed differently than the CCI sv or the Eley Standard that I shot on the same outing. The Pistol Match chambered much easier (outside, about 45 degrees) than the others. It was breezy and I was not being too serious but I did shoot 25 rounds of it (all that was in that particular box), at 25 yards, through a hole that I could just barely cover with a dime. I think that the specs on the label said 1070 fps which would make it similar to sv or Green Tag. My handgun scores are hardly limited by my ammo choices so I will not likely be searching long and hard to find more just thought it was interesting as I had forgotten that they made it.

Re: CCI Pistol Match
CCI Pistol Match shoots extremely well at 50 yards in my Hammerli 208S. I got a .76" ten shot group with it from a Ransom Machine Rest. I also shot some very good slow fire scores with that ammo, including a clean. Jerry Chaney (many times KY state champ and Team UltraDot member) also shot CCI PM for years in his Hammerli 208s. He was very successful with it. Unfortunately they priced it out of my reach many years ago.

Re: CCI Pistol Match
CCI Pistol Match and, to a lesser extent, Green Tag are favorites of mine. I'm making my way through my stash and while panic has not set in yet....stay tuned.
CCI Pistol Match (51), Green Tag (33) and Standard Velocity (32) are all the same ammunition that is sorted into finer statistical lots of velocity, pressure, etcetera (32 = good, 33 = better and 51 = best).
Current sources/vendors will be greatly appreciated.

Re: CCI Pistol Match
Midway sent me a notification that they have "select precision" in stock. Is that close enough? It's spendy enough.

Thanks, OldMaster66.
Select Precision is actually high velocity (1,200 fps, I believe) and, yes, pricey for what it is.

Re: CCI Pistol Match
I put CCI SV ammo in my Old Pistol Match Boxes , they seem to shoot better that way.......
Hornady makes a gauge to measure rim thickness with that you can make your own Green Tag by sorting out the case thickness that does not shoot as well in your pistol. Takes about 1/2 hour to sort out a brick. I usually sort them into four lots and select the lots that are more accurate. I have found it was not worth it with CCI CV or SK, but sorting made Aquilla Super Extra in to the most accurate ammo going. For a big match I would make the effort if I did not have a supply of match ammo.

Re: CCI Pistol Match
Green Tag has always been a mystery to me. I have never had a gun that shot smaller groups with Green Tag than with CCI SV. Sometimes they were much worse with Green Tag. That's been true for both pistols and rifles.

Yep,
That's why we test our ammunition. I have two M41s that love it and a M46 that hates it. It keeps life interesting.
