Herter's 38 spl brass ?
I am reloading 38 special and came across some Herters cases. They are a pain to prime, is anyne else having a problem with Herter's 38 cases ?

Isn't Herter's another of the 'Old Name on a new company' rebranding schemes?
I think that it is all middle European stuff given a North American sounding brand name to attempt to differentiate it from all the other imports.
That does not of itself make it bad but I am not sure that every batch even comes from the same manufacturer much less the same machines. Being reloadable may not be high on their list of desirable qualities.
Just My Humble Opinion.

Herters shotgun shells are made in Italy and use Chedite casings. Not bad for reloading if your into shotgun sports. Centerfire brass I'm not sure of where it comes from but I would think it's the same Italian supplier.

I have some of their 45 ACP in my mix of head stamps. They often have issues with primer seating. I have been contemplating culling them out.

Made by Sellier & Bellot in Czech Republic. S&B brass is ok, dunno about Herters though.

Metric primer pockets are about .001" tighter than USA pockets.
Not sure if that's the problem with these. ...

That might be close to it. Sometimes they feed fine, other times they are tight but go in, and other times in mashes the edge and while it might shoot, I won't finish the load process that way.
