Remington always gets good reviews, I also like Precision Delta (match lube) & Zero.

Remingtons, hands down for me, but, since they are unobtainium, I've found both the Magnus and Precision Delta (star) 148 hbwc's to be adequate.
I liked the Remmies because of their .360 dia skirt.

I don't know if that is why, I just know that they are the most consistently accurate with any safe powder/charge.

I am getting low on the Remingtons so they will be used for the long line since they perform the best.
Speer and Hornady for the short line, they do just fine there.

I was blessed and bartered for 2000 Remington 148's last year. Recommended powder? I've only used BE in the past.

That's what I figured. I'll try and get some WST. In kommy Kalifornia it might be a miracle.

For hp-38/win231, you can go to down to 2.9 with soft hbwc. You get great accuracy and very soft recoil. I only shoot at 25 yards, not 50; maybe you need 3.1 to make it that far.

I've heard in Albuquerque, where .38's rule and the wind blows free, bunny-fart loads are 7's on the other guys target at 50 yds.

I clean my precision delta HBWCs with odorless mineral spirits then roll them in 45-45-10.. painless and makes the bullets nice to work with.. Same thing with the Zeros or old Stars

Jim, it's a cast bullet lube designed by a guy on castboolits.com
it uses as I remember, 45% Lee Tumble Lube, 45% Johnsons wax and 10% Mineral Spirits.
There's a technique of melting the Johnsons wax to remove some solvents, then adding the LTL, and then mixing in the Spirits. It makes a toothpaste consistent lube that if you heat it and drop a small amount in a pan and roll your bullets around, it then dries to a hard thin shell..

I know a lot of old shooters that won a lot of matches with 10 twist barrels and 2.9 of 231.james r chapman wrote:I've heard in Albuquerque, where .38's rule and the wind blows free, bunny-fart loads are 7's on the other guys target at 50 yds.
I never started using WST personally..The team moved to it , about 1999/2000 and I was only smithing then..not shooting much.

Used them both and not sure which is better but I would think PD could come up with some better pics because they look very ratty on the website.

of course now, a bunny-fart is using 2.0 gr WST. Sometimes sticking in the cardboard targets.

And the other times bouncing off and falling to the ground.
