Herretts National Match grips for 22-45
Hey all,
I hope this doesn't fall into the category of newbie stupid question. I just bought a set of Herrett's National Match grips for my Ruger 22-45. My question...........
Why do they extend at least an inch beyond the mag well?
I have a medium sized hands and i don't need anything near the long dimensions of the grips.
Thanks
All the best
Doug

Because if they didn't go that far they would be to small. And they are still almost too small.
One size fits all....barely

Old Master,
Thanks. Obviously your mitts are considerably larger than mine!! Now I feel like it was a stupid question
Glad you took the time to help me out.

Sorry, I didn't want you to think that way. There really are no stupid questions for a new shooter. Don't try to shorten them. The strength is in the cross bar on the bottom.

If that's a K-frame pictured above, that's not a mitt. That's a PAW! Never seen anyone put the pinky UNDER the combat/target grips before. That's def a large hand to say the least.

I set them up on a flintlock pistol and couldn't get the gun to go in the box because it stood too tall. So I sanded down the excess I didn't need for my hand. Not much. Just enough so it would fit in the box. Works.

Tim
Thanks. Not sure what I am going to do with mine. I could probably take 5/8" off of mine but I dont want to screw them up. So, for now, I am just going to leave as is. Who know, maybe I will come across a bullseye mentor with hands that match The Old Master.
My thanks to both of you!

I will say this too - the little bit I removed didn't come anywhere close to interfering with how far or how close I could adjust the heal or rest. And typically I don't like or recommend carving on em. I just removed enough to get the box lid shut. Good luck!
