Roddy Toyota AW93 scope mount Empty Roddy Toyota AW93 scope mount

Post by SmokinNJokin 7/19/2016, 8:05 pm

I am looking for contact info for Roddy Toyota to get one of his AW93 scope mounts (the hard mount to the barrel) fabbed up and fitted. Not sure if any forum members have spoken to him recently, I was kind of hoping someone had his information.
Thanks!

Roddy Toyota's system does not require the removal of the rear sight. You can switch back and forth between open sights and scopes in seconds. I have a quick release ring on my Ultradot. I shot the 22 Rimfire EIC match on Tuesday then walked over to the practice range, re-attached the dot during prep time and started shooting.

Here is a picture

Doug Hall's is nicely done, but like the Brenzovich mount replaces the rear sight. The BME mount requires removing both the front and rear, though the front sight is a piece of cake. I am not aware of any other mounts for the FWB. A local machinist and shooter in Illinois did mine, but he doesn't have a FFL.

Thanks for the responses! I looked at Doug's mount last week, very solid and great guy to talk to. He currently only does the rear sight mount though, I'm trying to do a barrel mount.

You guys are too quick. I edited the post to add a picture. I have more pictures here, including a picture of an AW-93 with grooves cut in the barrel, reportedly done by Doc Young.

gives me the willies drilling or cutting grooves into the barrel of a 2500.00 gun, I'm happy with my GB mount.

I agree. The guy who did mine is a really good machinist / shooter who I trust very much. The metal is thin, but (just barely) thick enough to get a few threads for screws. There is no way I would have this done by any old gunsmith unless I knew how good they were.

I use the Brenzovich mount. Switching back and forth takes about 15 minutes of careful work. Not a big deal. The only downer is that you have to carve out a little bit on the back of the upper part of the grip.

Having the equipment and done similar work I don't want to drill the barrel. Though my AW looks to have been modified quite a bit there is not a single hole or a scratch in the original frame. All other parts have been duplicated rather than modified so that at any time I can return the gun to exactly 100% as purchased.
Some day I might try to remove the barrel, there is what looks like either a tapered pin or a dowel pin holding the barrel. If so I might make another so as I can scope mount it.

The .22 conversion barrels I have on hand from AA & Marvel are drilled and tapped 6 X 32 at a depth of approx. .140
Never liked that, but it's a design feature. The conversion barrels are approx. .625 diameter.. The 93 looks larger than that..

If and when I re-barrel the AW I will probably use an uncut blank. Mill the bottom to match the radius and make the top higher and cut in a scope base so I would not have to attach one.
However Jerry if you do have a barrel for sale that is .625"+ I will be interested in it so as to make a barrel for my MatchGun. The barrel is 14mmish with 16mm band about 10mm long. Not sure the length but it's at least 6+" long.
