Best metal coating
My hands can rust stainless. With the NC humidity, my blued guns look rough. Does anyone here have a coating that they recommend?

Cerakote seems to meet most needs for metal finishes. Not as durable as plating. If you want rust free plating, opt for electroless nickel

NP3 from Robar is another choice. Robar is a great company.

Can also look into the Melonite or Nitride QPQ treatment. The only problem is that it also hardens the surface of the steel which might bother a gunsmith at some point down the road...

cerakote and other Paint finishes suck imo, look nice at first but don't hold up well with regular use, at least on the 1911's ive had that were done. A good bluing job will hold up much better or hard chrome is toughest

I think hard chrome beats anything else for long lasting durability. I had a revolver hard chromed and it served rugged duty with my sweaty corrosive body for many years without a mark or other spot. I had a 1911 mainspring housing Cerakoted and it has held up very well, but hard chrome is the way to go for permanent protection.

Oil, if you don't have oil dribbling off your hand by the end of a match your not keeping it "wet" enough. That is of course a personal opinion.
