Factory loaded HBWC
I just ordered some Federal Gold Medal Match WC, I'm assuming thats not HBWC. The only thing I found that was HBWC was Blazer in aluminum cases.....Who else makes factory HBWC?

If you ordered 148 gr match they are definitely hbwc. Excellent ammo.

Yep.
Also, Precision Delta.Atlanta arms.
Remington, winchester, magtech(?), But what you ordered is excellent.

In my experience, "match" means HBWC.

Federal 148 gr. HBWC is great stuff. If it were me, I'd save it for the long line and shoot something like this for the short line: http://www.rozedist.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RZD&Product_Code=R608-A&Category_Code=ZBA-38SP

So long as his pistol shoots well with it. How well your pistol shoots with factory ammo can be very lot dependent.BE Mike wrote:Federal 148 gr. HBWC is great stuff. Thats the plan Mike, bought it for the long line outdoors. I have a load that I'm very happy with for indoors and I suspect it will work well for the short line. 2.7gr WST, zero 148 HBWC, starline brass and winchester primer.BE Mike wrote:Federal 148 gr. Re: Factory loaded HBWC
Looks like a good plan. Gil Hebard did extensive testing of the 52 and concluded that he could never quite equal factory match ammo with his reloads. I've shot a lot of factory match ammo in my 52-1 and all brands shot well (the gun; me not so much).orpheoet wrote:Thats the plan Mike, bought it for the long line outdoors. Re: Factory loaded HBWC
Back in the late 70s I had a Clark Wadcutter 38.
With that ammo on a Ransom Rest the gun shot two and a half inches.
I think I still have the target.
