todays range trip
shoot the .45 with the new ultra dot ..good to go there....and I shot the 180gr Penn bullets (91-1x slow fire 25yds) . I had to remove the 11# spring from the gun and install the 10 lb ...and the 10# is still a smidge to heavy....so its my plan to load 180gr lwsc @ 4.0 BE instead of 3.8 as I shot today .....I hope to laod the 200grs @ 4,0 BE and I'm sure either the 10# or the 11# should work for both....at 50ft those 180's are trained to go into one hole......the 91 I shot, all but 3 rds where 9 ring or better and those 3 where solid 8's...... .22 scores as far a slow fire where good 89 & 82 but my timed and rapid is in a slump again.....got a case of the low lefts 266nmc with the .22 @ 50ft....yuck...after 80rds the .45 isnt really all that dirty , a q-tip and a little reapplying of oil and I shoudl be good to go for one more session .......I would imagine if those 180gr bullets where 185's the 3.8 would have been fine.......Ive been shooting Penn bullets ..both the 180's and 200's are H&G 68 type bullets and dont require a press adjustment for seating depth or crimp....just which bullet I grab.....if I can get both to function @ 4.0gr BE with 1 spring I'll be happy ..if not I'll switch to another caster that has a 185&200 ...........time for a beer...I'm off tonight 3-day wkend.....

200 gr LSWC and BE
When I was using Bullseye with 200 gr LSWC I loaded 4.1 gr with an OAL of 1.235". Works out to about 790 fps. At the time I was trying this load I had a 16# spring installed, but probably could have gone to a 12#. The load gave very good groups at 25 yds.

Re: todays range trip
You're gun would probably cycle 200's with 3.8 gr of bullseye.

Re: todays range trip
I've switched over to 3.7 gr of N310 which is cleaner, softer recoil and better groups with 200 gr LSWC. A 10# spring works great with this load.

Re: todays range trip
My gun will shoot 3.8 grains of Bullseye in the summer, but I had problems in cold weather. That is why I went to 4.0 gr. My gun has a Clark slide mount, UltraDot and 12# recoil spring.

Re: todays range trip
My Kimber is extremely tight and shoots fine in cold weather (32-40F) with light loads and 10# spring. What type of lube are you using? During winter I stick with CLP only and during summer I use Permatex SuperLube on the slide. I hope I didn't start a thread on lubes as they are subject to opinions that vary as much as ..., well you know how much they vary.
