Nelson Custom are some stand up guys.
I bought a iron sight package from Nelson early this season and have been shooting it since with 99+% reliability, much more than I can say for the 70's era S&W 41 it replaced. I recently decided to switch my BE pistols to red dot so I ordered the new top rail to swap over. They were waiting for a new shipment and got it out for me the day they arrived from the finisher so I could use it in a match that weekend.
Fast forward 2-3 weeks and I get a call from Larry saying that Kevin noticed that a couple of the rails from the new batch weren't coated properly, they looked fine but the finish came off with solvent. He asked that I check mine out so that he could replace if it was one with a bad finish. Sure enough I wiped it down tonight with some denatured alcohol and the finish came off. He's sending me a new rail and return label for the one with bad finish.
Now most manufacturers would chalk that up to a manufacturing defect and would cover it under warranty if the customer had an issue. These guys went above and beyond and called each customer that had bought the rail out of the new batch to ensure they received quality product, that's what I call service! In an economy where service seems to be going down not up its nice to get outstanding service from time to time.
In comparison when I was shopping around for conversions it took Marvel nearly a month to email me back regarding the lead time on their conversion. You think they would have gone through the extra work Nelson has? Likely not.

I've always gotten good response from Marvel and they consistently donate something to our state match.
On the other hand, the Nelson I ordered at Camp Perry (that's early July) has yet to appear. That's a bit longer than "it will probably ship out next week".
So we can post good things or bad things, but nobody's perfect.

I posted the following on a different forum recently. Worth a thought. Oh and I'm still waiting on mine as well...next week would be nice. bob
When I placed my order for a Nelson I was told 4 to 7 weeks. I just got off the phone with Nelson Jr. to check status.
His dad had a serious accident while doing a mountain rescue and will be out of pocket for several months while recovering. Jr is holding down the fort as best he can with his dad being laid up. With it being a 2 man shop, being down to 1 has to be tough.
It might take them awhile to catch up, and I was assured quality is not going to be compromised.
I got a big dose of patience with this phone call today. bob

Re: Nelson Custom are some stand up guys.
I called Tuesday expecting to talk to Kevin and spoke with Larry! He helped me out with my malfunction concerns, I ordered an 8# recoil spring and had it Thursday. Quality people and a quality product.
Rest up Larry! Thank you for your service!

I also rec'd a call from Larry Nelson about the finish of the rail. He asked me to check it and if there was an issue he would send out a different one. Stand up guy for sure.
