Must resist, must resist...
Combo Rail for the Nelson Custom Guns 1911 22lr conversion unit. The cross slots have changed from Weaver style to Picatinny. The rear sight is a modified Elliason. (We changed the notch to be more like a Bomar as requested by Bullseye shooters.)

Some things are worth the wait. The Nelson conversion is one of those things. bob

While that sounds like a good idea as a sole proprietor to a business that's not always the case. If you can't find someone who has the passion, drive, integrity and DESIRE that you do you're wasting your time. In your effort to speed things up you actually slow things down because you're spending all your time double checking and fixing the mistakes of your new employee.Multiracer wrote:I own one and have met them. To coin a phrase, it's worth the wait.

Re: New nelson custom combo Rail
Larry is at Perry and I think steel challenger all to support shooters. Taking the time off product to support shooters costs them money doesn’t make them any.
, I would rather them at Perry then back in the shop

Re: New nelson custom combo Rail
The customer service of Nelson Custom is Pristine. I order two recoil buffers for my Marvel and the wait time for ship the order was three weeks. Mr nelson call me,because my shipping address not match with USPS data base. I confirm the address and He ship the buffers with first class package and he add additional buffer to my order. I receive the package yesterday and i think the wait is no problem, the customer service is ultra Excellent. I will buy one Nelson conversion in a close Future!!!!Tim:H11 wrote:The Nelson customer support is second to none. Worth the wait.

Re: New nelson custom combo Rail
I have a Nelson with two barrels and a iron sight and optics rail. It's very good and the guys Nelson are great!
I also have older complete 5" and 6" Marvel. I recently had a few phone calls to the new owner, Travis of Frecking Custom Works (fcwguns.com) and also his chief machinist/gunsmith Ben. The wealth of information they provided is priceless!
Order delivery time for two separate orders was 3 days each. Yup, 3 days!
The Nelson is very good but I like the Kensights on the Marvel iron sight rail and new steel combo rail much better than the iron sight on the Nelson.
Bottom line, the new Marvel owner Travis and chief smith Ben are professional gunsmiths and machinists. They know their stuff. Travis will be at Camp Perry.

Re: New nelson custom combo Rail
I've got both and like my kids, love all of them. Both shoot any good standard velocity ammo under 1 1/2"@50 yards and really good stuff under an inch. Both are reliable and function with either Colt mags or the Nelson mags.
Haven't had any reason for service work for the Nelson, but I've only had it for about a year & a half. Travis, from FGW, worked on 2 of my Marvels. One (old thin extractor model) had a cracked slide, and the newer lock back version had a bad barrel. As I bought both of them used, I expected to pay for the repairs & did, but Travis bent over backwards to get me up & running ASAP. Excellent service.
If I had to lean towards one of them, it would be the Nelson by a light margin. And thats only because it doesn't need a steel compensator to mimic the weight of a 45. Otherwise I don't think a buyer could go wrong with either of them.

Re: New nelson custom combo Rail
I own Marvel and Nelson. Nelson is awesome. Period. I don't even shoot bullseye anymore, and I use my Marvels for steel challenge, but I bought the Nelson just because I heard so much good about it and I am glad I bought it. Ran a few hundred rounds through it Saturday at the rimfire steel gallery range at my club. The thing is amazing. I build all my conversion on top of 2011 frames and the Nelson runs like a Singer sewing machine.
Yes, I waited some months for it, but it ain't like anybody here does not have guns to shoot in the meantime, lol.

I have their iron sight version with a railed version on order. Oh well, I’ll enjoy having both.

Gotcha. I would still prefer the regular Bo-Mar.
