Load Data for Hornady FMJ SWC 45137?
My pistol likes the Federal Ultra Match with the 185grn jacketed semi wc. I bought some Hornady 45137 to see if I can make a similar load. I'd like to hear if anyone has a recipe for that bullet. Powder, at this time, is undecided. Thanks.

4.2 Bullseye is a place to start. WST and TiteGroup can also be tried.

Also, most people seem to be shooting a 185 jacketed hollow point like the Nosler or Zero or Magnus. Most accurate ammo in my pistol is ASYM 185 gr National Match. I believe this was loaded with the Nosler. Pricey but accurate.

I have used some of the hornady for EIC ammo.
4.2 of v310 works very well
The speer 185gr HG 68 copy also shoots very well

I'd try to match the factory ammo's velocity that you get from your pistol and try a few different powders, i.e. Bullseye, WW-231 (HP 38), VV 310, Red Dot, WST, Titegroup, etc. In my experience, I've found the Nosler 185 gr. JHP to group well at 50 yards, in different pistols, under a charge of 4.5 grains of Bullseye, with new Starline brass, WW primer and a taper crimp of .470". IIRC the COAL is 1.25", but the COAL isn't critical. I wouldn't go under 1.120". That load gives me a velocity of around 829 fps, out of my Clark accurized Colt 1911. My short line load is a swaged LSWCHP over 4.0 grains of Bullseye and gives a velocity (out of my pistol) of 760 fps.Aprilian wrote:My pistol likes the Federal Ultra Match with the 185grn jacketed semi wc.
