"270 Club"
I'd like to recognize those who make our sport possible.
The folks who run matches; the guys and gals who do all the thankless work to keep this sport alive.
If you run even one 2700 a year, thank you. Congratulations - I nominate you for the "270 Club". That means you're giving bullseye shooters an opportunity to shoot 270 rounds of bullseye every year.
If you run 5 2700s, then you're in the "1080 Club" (270x5=1080). You're even cooler in my book. If you run 12 2700s, you're in the "3240 Club", and so forth.
Let's use this thread to acknowledge the folks who make bullseye happen.
My nominations:
Please give a shout-out to your local match director and/or "match wrangler" (because we all know that the person who does most of the work also wants to shoot, and therefore does not want to be the titular "Match Director").

My nominations:
- Bob H. from Lodi, CA: 3240 Club. Bob runs 2700s and EIC matches year-round at Sacramento Valley (CA), and also coordinates sending a sponsored California state team to Camp Perry each year. 3240 is probably underestimating his accomplishments, when you add in EICs and Distinguished Revolver matches.
- Skippy, Liz D., Arun H., Ron K., Art L., Doug E., John Y. Sr., and others in the SF Bay Area: 540 Club: Two 2700 matches a year at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club in Cupertino, CA. Likely the best match - and best food - anywhere West of Canton, Ohio (I may be biased).
Please give a shout-out to your local match director and/or "match wrangler" (because we all know that the person who does most of the work also wants to shoot, and therefore does not want to be the titular "Match Director").

Re: "270 Club"
Clark H. of Durham Pistol and Rifle Club and Cecil R. of Sir Walter Gun Club, both in North Carolina. They run monthly sanctioned outdoor 2700s during the season. Clark took on the additional responsibility of running the State Championship when we could no longer have it at Camp Butner due to funding cuts.
Willie T of the Wake County league who runs twice a month 900 matches most of the year. While not sanctioned matches, he does provide BE shooters a venue to practice.
Thanks to all three.

I think Art used to shoot with us in CA when I first moved out here around 2007, if I'm thinking of the same guy.

Current/former Air Force if I'm remembering correctly? The guy I'm thinking of was a Master. Good shooter, pushing 2600.

Mary Badiak & Dave Lang definitely deserve a shout out. NJ may have some pretty restrictive gun laws but we've got a great bullseye community and these 2, among others, deserve a lot of the credit.

Roddy does 5 or more outdoors including State. Plus About 4 months of Gallery League. He has been doing it I think since the 80s.

Re: "270 Club"
LtCol(ret) Art Rozier was, indeed, part of the USAF National Pistol Team and still helps coach them from time to time. He was knocking on HM, with a high 2700 score of 2619 and USAF Distinguished in both Rifle and Pistol as well as capturing several other awards, such as President's Hundred. You can see his Team Bio here. He also spent some time in International shooting with Free and Air Pistol. I believe he was stationed in both Hawaii and California for a couple of his tours.

Re: "270 Club"
Thank you for the recognition. Let's see, 16 years X 8 matches per year X 270 rounds is about 34,560. With an average of 15 shooters per match that's about 518,400 rounds for score over that time, not counting alibi strings.
Aside from the math, I really appreciate all the shooters that have attended and supported the SWGC matches over the years. Please keep supporting your local (and not so local) matches.
Its vitally important for most matches that the clubs and ranges see participation by club and non-club members. That helps the match directors get more support from the club. Clubs such as ours, in turn, see non-members that participate in matches as supporters and voters that can help keep clubs alive and provide political support when needed.
Again, thank you all very much for supporting the SWGC Bullseye match and all the other bullseye matches.
Cecil R.

Re: "270 Club"
Thank you for the kind words, Jayhawk and John.
Don Gussler runs a monthly match at the South Bay Rod & Gun Club in Dulzura, CA (a few yards north of the Mexican border). Not sure of the exact mix of 1800's and 2700's.
Don Plante runs an excellent program at Phoenix Rod & Gun (yes, in Phoenix, AZ). His Desert Midwinter match in February attracts people from the East Coast.

Jim Riley at "The Last Resort Range" in Columbia TN. It goes under the "Match Masters Pistol Club" off the Magnus Bullets website. Jim keeps up the range, holds the monthly matches from March through October, including a regionals, and a state championship match. That's six locals, and two major events. Definitely 1080+. Thank you Jim Riley and I hope we see more attend the monthly matches.
