Your hand size might play a part.  My hands are not as big as carykiteboarder, but when I buy a pair of gloves, I invariably have to get XL before they fit.  I never could get a solid grip on my 1911 until I got thick grip panels.

Be sure to buy them from Brownell's, they are cheapest there.

yes,i order in brownells,excellent price.

the best grips ever, i receive and install in my range officer and are super aggresive. the most hilarous is the package.
