Anyone Use the App Targetscan?
Does anyone use a scoring and tracking app? What are your impressions? Pluses/minuses?
How about the pricey club level PC based scanners?
The disadvantage I see with the club level scanners is you're stuck using a single supplier for targets and sometimes proprietary hardware as well. Then there's yearly licencing costs as well. So there's up-front and on-going costs to the systems.

What is the purpose for scanning the targets? Scoring? Group size, location?

Works great. Very low cost. Anything that makes practice more fun is a winner. Try it!

I use it to keep track of my air pistol, free pistol and international standard matches. Unfortunately it doesn't have a good support for Bullseye because it cannot scan targets of different sizes within the same session/match (although it does support B-6 and B-8 targets separately).

I use it for ap. Great app. The best part is the customer service. Everytime I have contacted the maker with an idea, he implemented it on the next update.

Re: Anyone Use the App Targetscan?
I have used this App for a year. But, I have only used it for 10M Air Pistol. It works really well if you can backlight the target when you take the image. For me, for scoring 10M air pistol targets, it works great! I love the statistics it creates. Very useful for sight alignment and trending. I haven't been able to use it for anything else and was curious how well it picks up the shots on other targets. The last time I looked, it didn't offer anything but .22 for pistol. I was hoping it would have offered .45 as a choice. I vaguely remember that the App wasn't that expensive and I certainly think it was well worth it, for me. Feel free to write if you have specific questions.

Use it for my kids 3-P air rifle, stopped trying to use it for BE.

Re: Anyone Use the App Targetscan?
I just started using it. It's not perfect, as it sometimes has a hard time picking up .22 holes and/or doubles in the black if the target isn't backlit, but there's a manual function to take care of that. Wish it would support bullseye better by being able to use different target sizes in the same session. Still pretty nice though.

Re: Anyone Use the App Targetscan?
I remember discussing the bullseye option with the author some time ago, but he said he's mostly interested in getting the International shooting disciplines properly supported. Perhaps we can contact him again and ask if there are any plans to add support for Bullseye. Personally I'm more than willing to pay for it

Based on what I read it works with an iPhone only. Does anyone know if it has an Android format?

Re: Anyone Use the App Targetscan?
I have had the Android app since it has been out for maybe over a year now.
It started out with a hand full of targets for international shooting.
Has updated quite often and now have over 100 targets to choose from, not that I will use them all
I use it for 10m AP to keep my scores and sessions on file so I do not have to keep the paper targets.
You really need to have a good back ground lighting.
A blue screen on my laptop works well.
Sometimes you may have to take a couple pictures if you have some shots touching but works very well overall.
Have used it on bullseye targets and works fine but like others have said, it will not support a BE match in the order of the targets used.
With international targets they are all the same and this is what the designers intent of the app was originally for.

Oh, and for BE you can choose bullets of .22, .32, 9mm, .38, .40 and .45

I've had the Android app since early spring and have been very pleased with it. While it won't calculate total match scores it will calculate individual targets. It works very well.

Re: Anyone Use the App Targetscan?
I just got this email from the TargetScan app developer:
Can anyone please help with some decent SF and RF targets? I'm a bit embarrassed to send him mine )
Thank you for using the App and offering your help. Better support of multi stage disciplines like Bullseye has been requested by 7 users since 2011. It is still on my todo list, but the list is quite long and this change is not a trivial one. 1000’s of new users is certainly appealing, but the reality is that I can work on the App only part time, and I do other contracts to pay my bills. Chicken and egg problem, isn’t it? I can only promise I will bear this requirement in mind: there is still a couple of hot requests, e.g. an option to pick a photo of a target from the camera roll, ability to edit accepted scans and this is requested by many users. Unfortunately, I am still busy porting remaining functionality from iOS to Android…
If you could email me a couple of photos of your Bullseye targets that would be certainly helpful!
