Service Pistol rails 1911
Full railed pistols legal for CMP service pistol? 6.2.2 just mentions a rail under the barrel is allowed. I emailed CMP to see if a 1911 frame would be legal with a full picatinny dustcover to match a "unique" slide, the answer I received just said it had to follow 6.2.1 and 6.2.2.
I am thinking it would be legal but buying a frame and building up a 1911 isn't a cheap investment if it's not legal.

If you cant get a solid "yes" from the CMP then don't go that route. If you get DQ at a match you can argue your point until your blue in the face, but all it takes is one Range Officer to not agree with you, and without written proof from the CMP your just up the creek.

Id say no it would not pass muster, for instance a rock river full rib with sights and rail in one that replaces a standard rail scope mount is not legal for cmp so what you suggest would basically be the same thing.

Clarrified the question again and sent a picture of a similar pistol in question. The response was a "yes" as to being legal under service pistol rules. (Can't attach picture but it is a 5" full railed Springfield Operator with a bushing barrel.)
The slide mounted ribs still are not legal but can be unscrewed and then the pistol is legal.
Now to save up for some JEM frames.
