38 Super Barrel
I received my $40 Sig Sauer 38 Super barrel today and now got to figure which gun it will fit in. Also need a link and pin. What other changes do I need to go from 45 ACP to 38 Super? Don

Ah so what you are telling me is I don't just remove a barrel from my R1 and make it a 38 Super. No problem I been wanting to build a slide anyway. Donjglenn21 wrote:slide, extractor, ejector , slide stop and mags

But if you had a 9mm you would just change barrels and magazines.

Re: 38 Super Barrel
My 9mm SA RO has a 4" barral and I love that gun so this could be a good excuse to buy another 9 with a 5" barrel. Would have to be sure to get one with a supported chamber frame. Maybe my first Sig. DonLenV wrote:But if you had a 9mm you would just change barrels and magazines.

Don't want to invest a lot of money in this gun and was looking at a Rock River 9mm but would have to check if it is a supported barrel. I like the idea of the 9mm/TMC if that would work. Donjglenn21 wrote:sounds like a great excuse for a new gun.....

In an FYI kinda thing. I bought a selection of bushings. Just cause. Anyhow the .579 was too tight to go on and the .581 was a little loose but the .580 was a good fit. That's a little smaller then the .583 a lot of barrels show up at. Now I am ready to give the barrel a test. If it ever stops raining here.

Thanks Len that is good to know I will order one of those bushings. How much fitting did the barrel require? What did you install it in? DonLenV wrote:In an FYI kinda thing. Re: 38 Super Barrel
Don, Sort of a disclaimer. My barrel was .580 and made by the same company as yours but you should still double check and make sure that it will fit. Barrel dropped right in with no fitting required. That's another way of saying that it is not a match barrel. I am still looking forward to seeing how it will fare against my other 38 super barrels. I put it in a rare pistol. I put it in a Kimber Gold Match II 40 S&W. They will also go in a 40 with only changing the magazines. I could have put it in the RO but the Kimber has a rail and dot so I can see the sights better. I put a #3 link on the barrel so I can test in both pistols.

Is that top gun the 5" barrel in a 4" Slide. If that is the case I might be able to put it in my SA RO 9mm. I really like that gun I had gun I had the slide milled fir a Vortex Vemon. Re: 38 Super Barrel
Sorry no. That's a six inch barrel in a 5 inch pistol. Storm Lake barrel. Needed fit. Takes a special barrel for the 4". I guarantee the Sig barrel wouldn't work in a Commander.
