WST load in M52 question.
Only load I have settled on and used in my M52-1 is 2.8gr BE under 148gr HBWC.
Question for those that use or have used BE and WST;
Did you settle on the same powder weight between the two for the same or better performance ?
Been on this sight over the years and many members say that WST is the go to powder for the .38
Figured what the heck, not getting any younger and figured I would give it a shot to see what all the noise is about so I picked up two pounds locally.
I know my pistol will tell me what it likes but wondering if I should just start with 2.8gr of WST and go +/- from there.
Thanks;
Clarence

I FOUND IT DEPENDS ON THE BULLET. STAR OR ZERO'S HAVE A THINNER SHIRT. SO 2.6 WST WITH THOSE.
IF YOUR LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE REMINGTONS, THEIR SKIRT IS THICKER. 2.8 WST WITH THOSE. JP

I luckily still have a small stash of Remingtons but they now will only be used at the long line.
I have a lot of older Speer and Hornady.

I have a Holosun mounted on my rail and 2.9 works great. Good thing because my Lee powder dispenser has a collet just for that.

Re: WST load in M52 question.
Thank you all for the responses.
Will start at 2.8gr and work from there.
Also just fired off an email to Remington about there production of the HBWC's and their match ammo that they loaded those in.
Thanks;
Clarence

Note that Hodgdon lists 2.8 as the maximum for that powder (735fps;16kpsi). Anything above is +P. They list 2.5 as the start load with 680fps/13kpsi.

Thanks Desben.
Yes I saw that so that is why I asked here specifically for the M52 pistol.
Hodgdon tested with a 7.7" barrel compared to the 5" on an M52.

Received a reply today from Remington.
They have stopped production of the 148gr LHBWC and the match ammo that they loaded them in.

Re: WST load in M52 question.
I used to use 2.8 Bullseye, now I use 2.7 WST. The WST seems the least little bit less snappy and is cleaner. Zero HBWC. I have a 52-2...

Re: WST load in M52 question.
2.7gr WST functions well and on call with SPEER & STAR (graphite lube) in both MDL52 & Clark 1911 with 1" UD scope.
Having read posts RE:WST by Jerry Keefer I decided to give it a try. I had not loaded 38HBWC for several years, my previous go to powder was 2.8gr BE. My starting WST powder charge was 2.85gr after firing several hundred rounds I settled at 2.7gr.
