Groups getting smaller
Thank you everyone for all the help. Here this last week my groups have really started to tighten up. The group may not be centered but it is a nice group. I suspect that may be a trigger or grip problem. I suspect grip as I will have a good group at 9 o'clock just out of the black and the next 10 rounds are centered. The group being left could be trigger placement as not enough finger on the trigger will do that.
Today I tightened my grip and counted to 6 while holding on target and the wobble nearly stopped at 5 or 6 count. I also used my flip up sunglasses with the pinhole and the left lens taped over. The pin hole really cleaned up my red dot and not holding the left eye closed seamed to relax the right eye. I think I am going to get my shooting at least respectable soon. Don

Isn't your bullseye classification "expert?" You should already be getting pretty tight groups if you're at that level, right?

Re: Groups getting smaller
I wish. I qualified Expert with the 1911 back 1982 in GTMO and don't think the NRA recognizes that qual. I did it to earn the Navy medal. I was on the Navy Ground Defense Force as a extra duty and carried a 45 and a M16 when we played war games against the Marines every quarter. We did not get but a little range time our only job was to hold the fence till the Marines could take up positions. We really did not get any training with the 1911 other then putting some rounds down range a couple times a year. I guess I was a lot better shot back then as 30 some years has increased my wobbly a lot. I would be happy to except a NRA classification as Expert as I think I can shoot that right now but have not shot a Match yet that counts. The Club Shoot I just did does not count as it is at 25 and 15yds. Kind of a fun thing once a month. So for a few matches I will be shooting with the Masters. They have nothing to worry about. Oh I gotcha. Sounds like you've got a fun challenge ahead of you. Hopefully it won't be as expensive as a journey for you as it has been for me! Guns, grips, modifications, red dots, reloading equipment and supplies, box, scope, etc. etc., it all adds up quick!

I've spent all this money on Bullseye guns and equipment. All the rest I wasted.daflorc wrote:Oh I gotcha. Sounds like you've got a fun challenge ahead of you. its great when you see your work come together!! I had a pretty quick trip up the learning curve this year myself. It was a great feeling to see those scores climb from last year!! I still have a long way to go, but its nice seeing yourself go down the right road!

Re: Groups getting smaller
Dave I am not shooting the Dixie. My right knee has been hurting like a bad tooth ache for two weeks now. About 50 rounds down range and I can hardly bear to stand on it to shoot. I still go to shoot but not for very long 4 times a week. I also don't have a classification yet and would have to shoot as a Master. I probably go watch for a while as the range is only about 15 miles from my house. Dondavekp wrote:Are you shooting the Dixie Match next weekend at Gateway?
