Which to use for CF and 45 Empty Which to use for CF and 45

Post by Mightyheb 4/21/2017, 3:01 pm

I currently own the following 2 wad guns
1. RO 45 fully accurized, Kart match barrel, 3.5# trigger .....
2. Colt Series 70 Gold Cup Match, accurized, kart barrel and Briley bushing, 3.5# trigger....

I have a marvel 22 conversion on an RO frame already and have a Nelson on order( before I bought the marvel and 2 others.  I may have a gun buying addiction

Should I sell the Nelson, or the wad gun( which one). I prefer to keep them all. Should I put the Nelson on one as a backup 22(Zins recommendation)

Because I am such a likable person you should send me the Marvel to give it a good test and give you feedback about future choices. I promise to send it back someday. Honest...

I'm not sure if they allow such dangerous guns on the west coast though

True. However we still have gun fights over here in the Wild West so those dangerous ones are needed the most. Smile

Sell the Marvel (and maybe one of the two others) and get a frame for the second Nelson. Two Nelsons and two wad guns. Primary and back up. Leave one Nelson with Irons and one with a Dot. 22 Distinguished pistol as well as backup. Just my own view on it.

No reason to sell your marvels for a Nelson as much as I like Larry and his product.

Don't sell or trade anything. I have personally regretted selling or trading every gun I have ever sold. Not at the time I did it of course. Well, except for the Erma 22 I had. I still feel guilty about selling it but I didn't have any friends I disliked enough to give it away.

I don't like getting rid of anything.  You could tell that isf you seen my house and sheds.  I once sold a hunting bow to a friend but later bought it back.  I traded it at a sporting goods store for a different one.  Later bought it back then sold it to a frien and he moved and I couldn't get it back.  So I keep everything now.  I am even going to keep this 52-2 even if I screw it up so bad it never shoots again.  Don

You would not keep one of these. If you tried to throw it away in the river it would float. But keep everything else.

I would even keep that contraption even if it was just to demonstrate that it's the hand & not the tool.

I'm kinda confused, Which one to use for CF and 45? Can't use the Nelson or the Marvel for either! I'm assuming you have conversions for .22? Remember there is more centerfire shooting than .22. (45 is centerfire) Plus you have the Distinguished matches. Presidents 100 if you go to Perry. I have in my box taken to every match I go to two .22's and two .45's

Thank you all. I think I will keep everything and have 2 22's and 2 45's. Plus the other guns I have which are 2 SA 9mm, Wilson Combat BWC 45, a 1944 Ithaca 45 and Ruger competition 22 but that is a different article called "obsessed, A gun owners life". I have only been shooting for 7 months my entire life.

Shoot the guns with the best trigger pulls! You should also find out how accurate the 45's are! Just because they have Karts doesn't mean they shoot well.

True about rookie obsessed.  John the RO 45 was accurized and tested to X at 50 yards. The other I just got two days ago. Being new I should just stick with the RO for now I think since that is what I have used to date.  Do you think?  I started training with Brian Zins at my local range and shoot with Dave Salyer who did the RO job

Good to know I can still keep going.  I know it's a long list but generally what type of guns do you have

These are the ones I actually shot in a CF or 45 match last year. I had this picture in the computer. There are some changes in dots, grips or barrels but same guns. I need to do one for 22's sometime. 4-45's, 2-38 super, 2-38 special and a 9mm

I guess I got bored. Current BE 22's. You may notice that I don't own a single pistol that ends in a vowel. Forgot to put 17 no dash in picture.

The Gun a Month Club join you can be a life time member also.  Being a member in good standings I will put in a good word for you.  You can join at any gun store and gun show.  Online purchases count also.  The only catch is if you sell a gun you have to buy two that month.  Plus if you buy two in one month you still have to buy one the following month.  Don
