Loads with OPTIC (dot,etc...). 25&50 yards
I am trying to find a load for 185 LSWC and 160 LSWC for 25 & 50 yards. I know about the pet loads but those don't tell you yardage or if there is an optic on top. I use bullseye powder and have a 1911 with 11# spring with an ultradot on top.
If there is a post that talks about loads with an optic that will work too. If you have some advice I'm listening
Thanks all

In my Range Officer before I made it a dedicated 22 it shot 3.5 gr of Bullseye with a 185 gr LSWC VERY well at 25 yards. I used 4.0 gr of Bullseye (and still do) with a 200 gr LSWC for 50 yards. The gun was stock with iron sights. You could try 3.5 short line and 3.8 long line...just guessing. Reloading is try and see.

Hey Craig! Cool to meet you this weekend!
3.8gn of BE behind 185gn LSWC is tried and true. Should be using something close to a 10-lb recoil spring with a dot and decent functioning gun.
May have to crank the powder up a tenth of a grain or two with 11-lb spring, but you will be close.
Sub 4-gn LSWC loads are quite pleasant to shoot. You can definitely drop on down into the 3.5gn with a lighter spring.

willnewton... I think you meant "You may have to crank the powder up a TENTH of a grain or two with 11-lb spring". In other words, you might have to go to 3.9gr or 4.0gr of BE with the 11-lb spring (not 4.8gr or 5.8gr).willnewton wrote:3.8gn of BE behind 185gn LSWC is tried and true. Not if he mounts a telescope!
You are right to correct me, for a normal red dot scope, a tenth would better. I'll fix that now before someone actually decides to take my advice for once.
