.22 EIC technique
With the low ready position is it preferable to to follow the front sight up to the target or look downrange until the front sight comes into view? I guess this is an International question but I don't shoot International(yet) so how do Bullseye shooters approach this?

The latter. Keep your eye on the bottom of the black, SNAP! the gun up to the bottom of the target frame, acquire the front sight, then gliiide into the black while squeezing the trigger.

I have not been able to master the follow the sights up. I bring the gun up early for my usual routine and get my sight position fixed. I then lower the gun to meet the requirements with my focus being on the bullseye. I then bring the gun back up to my sight line kind of like bringing the gun back after recoil, acquire the sights and shoot. So far that has worked for me.

so do you ever really stop on the center of the black when shooting international and moving across to the next target? To follow up with an international question as you move to the next target in the rapid fire series i'm guessing you twist at the waist? Then squeeze as you get to the edge of the black?john bickar wrote:The latter. Yes, even in the 4 second series.Chris Miceli wrote:

Traditional technique (which I use) is to pivot at the ankles.

Yeah, squeeze on the way in, just like .45 rapid fire.

Re: .22 EIC technique
I shoot a fair bit of "international" (standard pistol), so I'll comment. The technique I use differs slightly from John's, who gets much better result than me, so take it for what it's worth
I was taught to look about half-way down the field and pick up the front sight on the way up, then follow it to the aiming area. This makes it easier for me to keep focus on the front sight. It also helps me slow down as I reach into the bull, as opposed to overshooting and going too high.
This video illustrates the technique starting at 1min35: https://youtu.be/SrVcN6Id2hA
I use the same technique for the rapid-fire portion of centerfire pistol (3-second exposure).

Glad it helped. You'll need to break some eggs to make that omelette. I've done that lift, I don't know, 200,000? 300,000 times? Yet I still get rusty. 10 seconds is more forgiving than 4.
