Revolvers for RF, CF, and 45
First topic message reminder :
Does anyone, or has anyone used revolvers for all three matches? If so what RF revolver would you use. All i have right now is a Ruger Single Six with irons. Don

Use a K-32 for the centerfire portion. Yes they made them, just not many.

Len,
thats the model 16 in 32 H&R. very accurate, like a k-32, just not a k-32. (kind of like a Model 25 is not a model of 1950, or 1955, but more less common)

The seller is calling it a K-32 but I notice he changed it to a 32 magnum on the 23rd. Did you notice he is also selling a new/unfired model 52? That's interesting. http://www.gunbroker.com/item/648559573

The listing is a 52-2. Be very wary of guns from PR. They tend to be rust buckets.

A model 17 on the bottom, and a K-32 on the top.

While interested in revolvers, I'd have no idea what is good or bad.
A Ruger New Model Single Six for 225$Canadian from an estate sale does have my eye.
It would be interesting to see the various manufacturers put together bullseye packages.
Maybe even different packages for different levels.

Offer me a good deal on a "Sharpshooter" S&W revolver (or auto pistol) Bullseye package and I and others might just jump in to full 3 gun bullseye shooting. Exchanging/upgrading pistols later.

If I lost my mind and decided to seriously try three guns I’d be looking at a Euro .22 and .32 of the same manufacturer. A handful do offer the same frame in the two calibers (Pardini-Walther- Benelli) for sure may be others. It’s been a long time since any major competition was won with three guns, let alone three revolvers.

Some of us can't justify the cost of a convertible Euro gun, some want the fun and challenge of revolvers.
Some are in both camps.
The judge of what is fun, and what skills might be worthwhile to test and improve go beyond "major competition".
Wonder how good Miculek is with precision shooting? He certainly has the speed awards locked-up.

At my age it does not matter if it’s just me and my shadow, or a line of 50 competitors I’m only shooting against myself; and when that stops being fun I’ll be selling everything and moving on the something that I do enjoy.
From a pure business standpoint I don’t see any manufacturer going into the target revolver for PPC market anytime soon. It’s an aging sport, unless there is some significant change to bring new shooters into the sport in droves manufactures will put their monies into more active markets.

When people talk about revolvers in competition they usually mention three; would it be legal to use two a .22 for the rim fire course of fire and the one .45 for the center fire and .45 courses of fire? Similar to what is common with semi-autos today.

Yes, Actually 3 revolvers can be used. Nothing states you can't us a revolver though it puts you at a slight disadvantage. There are some shooters that do shoot the 2700 with only revolvers.

When you play the bottom-dollar game, you sometimes find the hard way that there was a lie somewhere. The few times I got drek, the seller quickly folded tent and stopped replying to my questions.
The price books are references, the reality is what the item you purchase goes for. I recently came into my dad's FN and instantly stocked up on magazines and spare parts. I found some unobtanium items and gladly payed top dollar since I couldn't predict if they would exist when my son or grandchild would need a spare part and that was the intent of my stocking up.
That is a very good reason to stock up on parts for older guns that had not thought of. My son or grandson would be taking the gun to a smith but if the smith could get the part they would be out of luck. Thanks for that idea. Don

Thanks! I was wondering if it was legal to use the two; one rim fire and the same. 45 revolver for center fire and the .45 courses of fire. You always read about a .22 a smaller than .45 caliber centerfire revolver and a .45 revolver.

Just to be sure you understood me 2 OR 3 revolvers can be used the same as 2 or 3 semi's can be used. Center fire is just that, rules say center fire 32 (if my memory is correct) or larger can be used so the 45 revolver is considered center fire and can be used.Jon Math wrote:

Thank you for the clarification I was wondering if two could be used. I shoot a K38 pretty well but I’ve never messed with a .45 revolver I need to try one. .45 auto models that allowed in my State are thin on the ground, maybe a revolver is the way to go.
