Mantisx or Targetize
First topic message reminder :
There are a couple of Shot Analyzers on the market. They are the Mantisx and Targetize. I was wondering if anyone has experience and what they think of them for Bullseye? They are priced around $120-160 dollars. They appear to do about the same as the more expensive ones.

Hi guys, ( Sivan from Targetize)
It is nice to see how many people got involved on this topic!
From our experience using Targetize with top units in the IDF ( Israeli defense forces) as well as field instructors, I can tell that the system makes a significant difference in shooting skills for both beginner and advanced shooters.
It is very affordable and effective.

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Since we have representatives of both companies, mantisx and targetize, would either of you be willing, in a professional manner, to compare your product to the other. I am definitely interested in one of these, I don't know how to really compare. I am interested in things like ease-of-use, and particularly attaching whatever is necessary to Olympic style pistols (GSP expert, Pardini, etc.).
Also, is the output similar or different? Although cost is always relevant, I can determine that on my own, althiughba few dollars wouldn't influence me either way.

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Hi Gregbenner,
Both systems are good and easy to use, but there are a few unique things which set Targetize apart, I will highlight below the 3 i think make the most difference ( in addition to the attractive price we offer).
1- Targetize was developed and tested by shooting instructors and veterans of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and special forces unit. The knowledge, drills and tips incorporated into the system all come from real-life scenarios and years of military shooting experience. Taking a Targetize to the range would be like having a personal virtual coach, helping you focus on the things that matter most to your technique.
2- Targetize offers free in-app speed and accuracy challenges to make your time at the range more interactive. It is very fun to unlock the different levels and achieve based on your skills. It also helps prepare you for real-life scenarios.
3- Targetize offers a very detailed record of your history and allows you to monitor your progress over time.
I will be happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Output: for bullseye shooters, MantisX has a "bullseye mode" that shows the complete muzzle trace for up to 3 seconds before and 1 second after the shot. Here's a 3 minute video of a bullseye shooter with MantisX with bullseye mode off and then on (yes, you can pinch to zoom in/out):
Attachment: Here is a MantisX adapter that will work with your GSP and Pardini:

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Austin,
I am going to estimate 70 -80 % capture rate on a S&W 1911. The pistol has had custom work done to it. The hammer spring has been changed. I will venture to say that there are not a lot of stock pistols in use on this forum. What would be the possibility of some type of sensitivity adjustment? I don't think the blue tooth connectivity has anything to do with the missed shots.
Once again it has never missed a live fire shot, and the sensor is mounted to the bottom of a mag. Pretty amazing that it captures any.

Sivan,
Am I right in saying that Targetize will only mount to rail?

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Hi Alex,
Targetize will mount on any bottom rail. Our official recommendation is to mount it on the bottom rail of a pistol but we have happy users who mount it on the mag rail as well.

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
I want to offer a brief account of my first experience of MantisX customer service.
I just bought the device and on the second day of use it stopped working - the application was stuck on "calibrating." I left a written message on the Mantis website and received a callback from Austin within a couple of hours. He very clearly explained to me how to reset the device and the problem was solved. He then answered a few questions I had and listened to my suggestions for additional features of the app. All in all, a great experience.
MantisX has my full endorsement.
And it's a great training tool - the Bullseye mode has been improved since its first release and is very useful now. I asked Austin to add a "shot replay" feature to redraw the trace in real time and he promised to implement it.
Great little tool!

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Mind you I know zero about the technological innards at work here, but would it be possible to have a live fire mode and drive fire mode, the dry fire mode having a less sensitive algorithm that would pick up the dryfire impulse better?

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
The app works in three modes:
1. Live fire
2. Dry Fire
3. CO2
I tested dry fire and CO2 so far and both picked up every shot but no extraneous noises. Don't ask me how it works; Austin would have to answer that...

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Ahh, I see the 3 modes now. Mine just came in the mail today. I have it mounted to the mag of my 1911. Took 14 shots to get my first 10. Sounds about par for the course based on Alex's post. Sounds like Oleg is having a bit more luck then me. I had a 93% average. I've only played with it for about 30 mins. Tons more to look at.

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
Initially with MantisX I was having about a 25%+ failure to capture a dry fire. I always had Pandora radio running through a Bose Soundlink on the other side of the garage. When I turned it off my failure to capture rate dropped to 1 maybe 2%.

Re: Mantisx or Targetize
I hope these are just a few helpful comments on the mantisx. I purchased one earlier this year. I purchased it to help me shoot my .45 better. I shoot bullseye and it has helped me. I have shot 100 three times while dryfiring. I can shoot my Rock River much better now having practiced both dry and live fire with the mantisx. I practice only with my primary hand. Yes you can delete individual shots from the screen where you can play back what the shot looked like. For my money, $150.00 this device is well worth it. My device is attached via a picatinny rail under my barrel. I know, I probably misspelled a few words here ignore the spelling. I also own the Scatt Basic for my FWB AW93. It takes more to get it up in running. I have had it longer than the mantisx. These are two different devices from ease of use. Practically, the mantisx is helping me do what I want to do, shoot .45 better. It helps me diagnose what I am doing right and wrong. You can't go wrong with the mantisx if your goal is similar to mine.
