My Prototype range box
Made one up out of scrap I had around the shop. Need to sand it up and get a finish on it....Hmmmmm, what to finish it in. Only made it a 2 gun but I can upgrade it to 3 gun if needed. Give me your thoughts on a finish. Part of me wanted to try that Hammered finish??
Let me know what you think of my first try

Looks like you copied a professional box. Looks pretty good especially for first time box build.

Re: My Prototype range box
I looked at several so those gave me some ideas. I put in a anti slam screw in the lid so it would not blow over in the wind. I also did something different for the drawer glide..Or not glide. I didn't like the two pieces of wood some use to hold the drawer in. Mine is more like a sliding dovetail but not a dovetail, I used a dado. Works like a charmJon Eulette wrote:Looks like you copied a professional box. Looks pretty good especially for first time box build.

Re: My Prototype range box
Very nice job. I would have to stain that and put a nice finish on it. You might wast to ad some type of material where it clamps on to the guns Don

I think I’m going to use a laminate to do the outside. Little more durable.

Re: My Prototype range box
I made this one out of 3/8" marine plywood, piano hinge, old army blanket and a ammo box lid. I stained it with a walnut finish stain and then beat the heck out of it for the last 43 years. Must have some Timex in there somewhere also. I really did misuse it over the years. Ignore the Practical Shooting Assc. patch. Got my moneys worth out of Army surplus parts and glue. I made it tall enough for scoped pistols way back then.
