Converting a RO 9MM to 38 Super
I am not going to spend anymore money on this junk RIA 38 Super. It is like putting lipstick on a pig.
What do I need to do the conversion? I have the 38 Super barrel that that came with the RIA and one of those 38 Super Sig barrels that was selling for $40 aq while back. Will buy a better barrel and have it fitted later. Do I need to buy a over sized 38 Super NM bushing? I have fitted a bushing before and can handle that. Don

I like the Briley bushing. I have one in both my Supers. I bought a selection of sizes so I got one that fit right. The slide lock was the only factory part on the RO I had to change out. It was about .003" undersize. I changed it out and got rid of the vertical stringing.

May be a case of one, but the Sig barrel I used for my 38 super EIC pistol shoots like a house of fire after welding it up and re-fitting it. It has a Nowlan / Wilson feed ramp so take that into account. The sig barrel fit fairly well straight from the factory so I'd probably opt for it to start with. Both Kart and KKM make excellent gunsmith fit barrels.
basic conversion is a change of magazines, barrel, and possibly the ejector.. Tuning the extractor is also a possibility. I used an EGW angled bushing for the barrel then cut the engagement surface down to the width of the thinnest cut from EGW..but that is not necessary.
you can order the EGW bushing with whatever OD and ID you need directly from them.

I agree with Len on the slide stop on the RO, Cast and undersized.. Get a quality forged part with the arm being .198-.199 for a start.

Good info guys it is what I needed. Think I got a good buy on the gun @ factory New for $680. I probably will make improvements slowly and maybe even shoot it as a 9mm for a while. It is a birthday present from me to me. Will still have to get a optic on it any one know what the rear site cut is? Don
