Value of a 1958 S&W 41 with 7 3/8 barrel
My LGS has a 1958 SW41 in really good condition for sale. Is it a desirable year compared to the new ones? Made better? What would be the range of dollar amount for something like this? No box and one mag

I would check gun broker. It'll give you an idea of the market value.

I know that was a great year. Should fetch a premium. I would want 1100 ish for mine but it is not for sale. They knew how to make them and took their time back then. The only one magazine is no problem they are still making them.

I have a 1959 41 with 7 3/8 barrel with comp but no false muzzle. It came with a real field barrel too. That made the sale at 1200$

If you want it offer him $1150 (have cash if you can green is great leverage) and if he doesn't accept it buy it anyway. You will regret it if you don't. I can't tell you how many great deals I've missed over the years by trying to rationalize the price. If in the end you don't like it, if it's as good as you say it should bring a minimum of $1,100 in a quick sale.gqllc007 wrote:Ok thanks. As of right now he wants $1299
Just make sure you check it over before you plop the money down.

probably not a horrible price for a 50's vintage gun, if it is in great shape and no issues mechanically or barrel wise,
looking thru gunbroker, (completed auctions) and being in the business, I do know that the 41 market is small,
only a handful sold on gunbroker on the 3 pages I went back, most a bit less than what they are asking,
I agree with dronning,
walk in with a fist full of cash and be nice and polite and you should be able to get it cheaper
