Aguila 22lr
Has anyone done any testing of the new Aguila 22 SV with "Aguila Prime" on the box, versus the older Aguila SV with "Eley Prime" on the box?
I've been told that Aguila 22 will be only "Aguila Prime" in the future and "Eley Prime" will no longer be available. Plus, some web sites are showing "Eley Prime" Aguila 22 pictures and shipping "Aguila Prime". Cabelas was one i saw a complaint on and they won't take returns of ammo.
I saw another site that had 3 pictures of the Aguila 22 box and each was taken from such a point that you could not see the "prime" box so you have no idea what it was.
I still have a little but it won't be long before I need more. I may be switching to another brand when it warms up enough to do some testing.

Re: Aguila 22lr
As I understand it, Eley and Aguila have ended their agreement to use the Eley priming method.

Re: Aguila 22lr
I bought a case to train with this winter. I've shot over half of it without a single misfire.
thats more than I can say for the case of Ely Primed that I shot a few years ago. But that was with a different pistol.

My understanding is that Eley sold their analog priming system to Aguila way back when and helped them install it. Eley went with a newer digital priming system. I doubt that Aguila has changed their priming system. They may have had an agreement with Eley to mark each box with "Eley Primed" and that agreement expired.

The most recent brick I purchased is Aguila primed. I haven't noticed any difference. I still have about 1 stovepipe every 100 rounds or so. I just use it for practice.

Believe I saw a thread on rimfire center where someone cut two rounds apart and the priming was identical

Re: Aguila 22lr
I just picked up a thousand rounds for winter practice. In 200 rounds I've had one misfire. I also noticed substantially more recoil with it than the SK yellow box I.ve been shooting. FYI 200o rounds through my Walther with no misfires.

Re: Aguila 22lr
IMO, the Eley primer designation is all about marketing. They likely had the same system long before putting the name on the box and have kept it after the name was removed. The Aguila standard velocity is listed as 1130 fps, which is about the same as Remington standard velocity which is listed as 1150 fps.
Apparently, there is no manufacturing or testing standard which separates high velocity, hyper velocity, standard velocity, low velocity, subsonic velocity, whisper quiet velocity, and so forth. I've got 500 rounds of the Aguila standard velocity to try and expect it to behave similar to Remington standard velocity - which would be good.
