Anyone have pictures of desert tan shark skin 1911 grips.
Google has failed me, I can find pictures of the grips alone but not actually on a 1911.
I love the shark skin grips but kind of want a second color so I can have different colors on my primary versus backup pistols for quick ID in my safe.
Jon tried to talk me into shark skins when I was building my 45 but I wanted the VZ Simonich gunners, the VZ's look awesome but cost 3x as much and have noticeably less grip (decent grip though just not like the shark skins).
My shark skins are still brand new so its possible they'll "dull" a bit after use and end closer to the VZ's which shouldn't dull but currently I'm liking them.

No Desert Tan but over on the left there are two pair of shark skin grips. To answer your question they will fade in time. The upper set rode my hip for a long time. Not really in the sun so I don't know what made them fade. Probably all the worn off skin on them. They also lose a little roughness.

Hi Len,
I'm collecting information and learning about natural material grip panels. The set in the lower left of your photo appears to be stag. Are they Sanbar? What can you tell me? What should I know when I'm ready to make a purchase?
Thanks, Tom

Go on Brownells and look, they picture both black and tan.
Mine are already mounted.

I have two RO's, one with a conversion. I put the tan on the 22 for the same reason you are looking.

I've see pictures of the grips but can't find a picture with them actually installed on a 1911.

Heads up, IMO They’re not as grippy as black. When I called kensight they said they were aware and working to change the process so they’re the same.

Well that stinks, guess I'll have to wait. What I'd really like to see is a charcoal color.

They are plenty grippy, don't wait. You can always paint them. Black painted with charcoal will always look good even as they wear.

Hi Tom. You should know when you get ready to make a purchase to not buy cheepo knockoffs like those. The black started to run when they got a little hoppes on them. I don't remember the brand name but they were not expensive.Boxturtle wrote:Hi Len,
