Clays is great, clean powder for 45 ACP. 3.8 grains with 200 grain SWC will be accurate @25 and 50 yds. and function well in most guns. I did switch back to BE, however,  since Clays measures inconsistently in my cheap Lyman measure.

4.2 gr Clays, Winchester primers, Zero 185 gr SWCHP is phenomenally accurate out of my wadgun at 50 yards.  It can be dropped to 3.6 gr for the short line and still cycle the gun reliably.

4.4 gr Clays, Winchester primers, Zero 185 gr JHP is even more accurate than the above load at 50 yards.

I have seen some say it has a different recoil impulse. Is it punchy or a softer recoil push?

Hello,

My go to load....

4.2 grains of CLAYS
Starline cases
185 grains Nosler/Zero bullets
Winchester primers
1.216" over-all-length

Accurate, super clean, soft/push recoil (for me).
